They may look like flowers, but they’re really so much more than that.

The beautiful flower baskets you see throughout downtown and around the city are a small but meaningful part of what makes Kokomo feel like home. Planted and cared for by Greater Kokomo Downtown Association volunteers, these baskets are a reflection of community pride and the people who care enough to make our city a little brighter, more welcoming and more beautiful.

They’re also part of the Greater Kokomo Alliance’s ongoing placemaking efforts, because creating a great community isn’t always about the big projects. Sometimes, it’s about the little details that make people want to stop, stay awhile and enjoy the place they call home.

A big thank you to the volunteers who give their time to make Kokomo bloom!

Sometimes, you have to take a minute to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

For these four Greater Kokomo Alliance team members, this moment is a pretty special one. They’ve spent months working behind the scenes, solving problems, making decisions, putting in long hours and doing whatever it took to help bring the Downtown Kokomo Conference Center from an idea to reality.

Now, they get to sit in the space they worked so hard to make happen. And we think that’s worth celebrating.

Join us downtown for Get Schooled, August's First Friday, on Friday, Aug. 7, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Discover the businesses, artists, organizations, and creative people that make Kokomo Downtown District such a vibrant place to live, work, and explore. From hands-on activities and live entertainment to local shopping and community connections, you'll leave knowing your hometown a little better.

Then, if you're 21 or older, stick around for First Friday After Hours, when select downtown bars, pubs, shops, and venues keep the fun going beyond 8 p.m.

Every great museum starts with a story. This one starts by rolling history through the door.

One by one, Kokomo's automotive legends are finding their new home inside the Kokomo Conference Center. Watching these historic vehicles move into place is a reminder that this isn't just another exhibit. It's a celebration of the people, innovation, and craftsmanship that put Kokomo on the map.

We're doing it big this year! On Nov. 5, the Greater Kokomo Alliance will bring its biggest night of the year to the new Kokomo Conference Center in downtown.

Bringing tournaments like this to Kokomo doesn't happen by chance.

The Greater Kokomo Visitors Bureau works year-round to attract sporting events that create a lasting impact on our community. The 2026 Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series, taking place July 13-31, is one of those successes, bringing more than 400 teams and their families to Kokomo.

But the work doesn't stop once the tournament begins.

Throughout the event, the Visitors Bureau team will be on site welcoming athletes and their families, answering questions, connecting visitors with local attractions, restaurants and shops, and making sure every guest experiences the hospitality that makes Kokomo special.

It's all part of our mission to help visitors feel at home while supporting local businesses and showcasing our community.

The work starts long before pitch night.

The Drive is more than a business competition. It's a chance for local entrepreneurs to sharpen their ideas, strengthen their businesses, and prepare for the next stage of growth.

Right now, this year's finalists are working one-on-one with Alliance staff to refine their financials, strengthen their marketing strategies, and build compelling pitches that showcase their vision and how they'll use the prize money to grow.

When they step on stage, you'll see the final presentation. What you won't see are the weeks of preparation, coaching, and collaboration that help make The Drive such a valuable experience.

The transformation of the Kokomo Conference Center is one of the most exciting developments in downtown Kokomo's recent history, and now you can watch it happen in just a few minutes.

The 2026 Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series (AFCS) will bring national championship softball to Kokomo July 13–31 in conjunction with Grand Park in Westfield. Games will be played at Kokomo High School Softball Stadium and Championship Park, including the All-Star Game on Sunday, July 19, streamed on ESPN+.

The Greater Kokomo Visitors Bureau is supporting the event, working closely with organizers to ensure a seamless tournament experience for teams and spectators alike. More than 400 teams from across the country will compete, bringing a major economic boost to the community through local hotels, restaurants, and businesses.
