The Community Foundation was proud to award the Mulberry Police Department a grant to support the purchase of life-saving equipment for its officers and the community they serve.

The funding will be used to purchase and deploy a new Motorola portable radio and three Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in patrol vehicles and police headquarters, helping ensure officers have the tools they need to respond quickly during emergencies.

On May 27, Emerald Blankenship, Senior Vice President of the Community Foundation, presented the grant check to Jason Albaugh, Town Marshal of the Mulberry Police Department.

Because law enforcement officers are often the first to arrive at the scene of a medical emergency, immediate access to an AED can make a critical difference when responding to sudden cardiac arrest.

"Having these life-saving tools readily available in our patrol vehicles allows us to step in immediately during a cardiac emergency. It is one more vital way we can protect and serve our community," Albaugh said. "The Mulberry Police Department is deeply grateful to the Clinton County Community Foundation for their ongoing commitment to public safety."

By investing in emergency response equipment, this grant will help the Mulberry Police Department enhance public safety and provide faster, potentially life-saving care when every second counts.

The Community Foundation was proud to recently award COACH Kids of Clinton County a grant to support its Local Heroes Empowerment & Engagement Project.

COACH Kids of Clinton County provides mentoring programs in both school-based and community-based settings, helping young people build character, strengthen academic skills, and grow in confidence. Through these programs, students are empowered to navigate life's challenges while developing the resilience and personal growth needed to thrive.

On May 18, Emerald Blankenship, Senior Vice President of the Community Foundation, presented the grant check to Casey Allen, Executive Director of COACH Kids of Clinton County.

This funding will support a Summer Intern and activities designed to keep students engaged, connected, and supported throughout the summer months.

"Our Summer Intern plays a vital role in preparing for the upcoming school year and helping create a smooth transition for both mentors and students," said Allen. "Funds will also support our 'Beginning of the Year' introductions, giving students and mentors an opportunity to connect early, ease first-day nerves, and begin building strong relationships that lay the foundation for a successful year ahead."

By investing in mentorship, the grant will help COACH Kids continue creating the meaningful bonds that support students' growth, confidence, and success both in and out of the classroom.

The Community Foundation was proud to award the Kokomo Housing Authority (KHA) a grant to support transportation needs for its Homework Club program.

Homework Club is an after-school tutoring and mentoring program serving K-12 students, primarily those living in KHA communities. The program provides homework assistance, academic support, mentoring, and a safe, structured environment for students after school.

On May 18, Emerald Blankenship, Senior Vice President of the Community Foundation, presented the grant check to Angie Sanders, Homework Club Teacher. The funding will help KHA replace its aging van, ensuring students have reliable transportation to and from the program.

"Transportation is one of our biggest barriers," Sanders said. "This grant will help us safely transport students to and from the program, educational field trips, enrichment activities, and community events."

By investing in reliable transportation, the grant will help Homework Club continue providing students with access to academic support, mentorship, and opportunities that contribute to their long-term success.
