It’s a common mistake after a mission trip: to think that the place you visited was your mission field.

But here’s the whole truth:
You were there temporarily.
The mission field God assigned to you is your everyday life.

Tom Mercer’s book "8 to 15: The World Is Smaller Than You Think" describes it well:
Each of us has 8 to 15 people God has intentionally placed around us - for relationship, for influence, and for service.

Missions isn’t something we check off once a year.
It’s the lens through which we’re called to live every day.

The trip trained your eyes to see God’s movement.
Now it’s time to apply that vision to your daily life, right where you are.

You didn’t step off the mission field when you stepped off the plane.
You stepped into it when you walked back into your neighborhood.
That’s the whole truth.

At CSI Ministries, we believe that meaningful ministry is built through relationships.

We are grateful for the privilege of partnering with local churches and schools in Jamaica as they invest in their communities every day.

Another team is heading out this week! As they travel and serve, would you join us in praying for each team member and for the people and communities they’ll be serving? Pray for safe travels, open hearts, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to see God at work in big and small ways.

Today, we pause to remember.

Honoring those who gave so much, and holding space for the families and loved ones who carry their absence every day. ❤️

At CSI, we believe ministry is strongest when local churches lead the way. Our partner churches in Jamaica know their communities, understand the needs around them, and are faithfully serving year-round. Short-term teams come to support what God is already doing through local leaders. Join us in praying for God’s guidance, wisdom, and blessing over our partner churches as they continue leading the work He has placed before them.

As this team begins their trip, we’d love for you to partner with us through prayer. Lift up the team members as they travel and serve, and pray for the communities they’re stepping into. Ask God to go before them, prepare hearts, and create moments that point people toward Him.

In the U.S., we make a lot of decisions based on the 10%.

We buy a big SUV for the few times we need extra seats.
We keep a guest room for one week a year for family visits.
We buy tools we’ll use once, because it saves time.

It’s not wrong; it’s just how we live when we have more money than time.

But on the mission field, it’s often the opposite: more time than money.
So things get done differently. And for visiting teams, that can be tough.

I’ve heard it plenty:
“Why are they doing it that way?”

I used to ask the same—until something broke, and I offered my fix.
The local staff member smiled and said, “You can do it that way.”
I finally asked, “How would you do it?”

His method took longer… but saved money and made more sense for the context.

Here’s the whole truth:
Different isn’t wrong.
Efficiency isn’t always the goal.
And being teachable might be the most important thing we bring with us.

That’s the whole truth.
