BIG HEARTS & BIG THANK-YOUS!

Our YMCA of Alaska Childcare kiddos had a very special mission — to spread kindness throughout our community!

We’re honored to share that YMCA of Alaska Childcare has been selected as a 9/11 Day grant recipient!

This fall, we’ll be joining the movement to permanently transform the anniversary of 9/11 into America’s Day of Doing Good, leading a community service project in honor of the 25th Anniversary.

🎁 As part of this project, our kiddos are spreading kindness by creating care packages, thank-you notes, and goodies for first responders in our community. We’re so excited to give back and show our appreciation for all they do to help keep our community safe!

To our amazing first responders: Thank you for welcoming our YMCA children and staff! Our kiddos were so excited to bring you these special gifts as a small way of saying THANK YOU!

We are so proud of our little helpers and their BIG hearts! Watching them experience the joy of giving, sharing, and making others smile was truly special.

🎁💌🚒🚔 Little hands. BIG hearts. BIG smiles! 🚔🚒💌🎁

Kodiak Families! We have been collecting donations for our first responder care packages and will begin delivering them locally on Friday! Our students are looking forward to completing their first service project since we began! If you would like to help by donating items, we still have collection boxes near the front office at East Elementary, Main Elementary and Peterson Elementary. Thank you for your continued support of Kodiak youth and our local first responders and healthcare workers.

🎉 The Kodiak YMCA Childcare Office is officially open!

On June 3rd, Childcare Director Erica Blondin and YMCA of Alaska CEO Nate Root cut the big red ribbon, surrounded by 50 of our incredible staff, parents, and kids!

Just over a year ago, the Kodiak Collaborative teamed up with the YMCA of Alaska with a shared dream: to bring reliable after-school childcare to our community's three elementary schools. Today, that dream is a reality.

A massive thank you to everyone who believed in this project and helped us reach this major milestone. We are incredibly honored and excited to serve Kodiak’s families! ❤️
