Final touches are being made to an inspiring evening that will share the story of this wonderful ministry through videos, photos, and include music performed by the talented music ministry of the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Knoxville, TN. Today, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible team that faithfully serves at our medical clinic in Bouly, Haiti. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment make quality healthcare possible for so many individuals and families in the community.

🩺𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐖. has been a cornerstone of our clinic since 2012. For more than a decade, he has faithfully served five days a week, bringing experience, dedication, and kindness to countless patients.
🩺𝐃𝐫. 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐞 𝐁., our Medical Director since 2020, travels to the Bouly clinic twice each month, staying three days during each visit to oversee patient care, support our staff, and strengthen the clinic's mission.

We are deeply grateful for each member of this team. Their hard work, sacrifice, and love for their community are making a lasting difference every single day. They are the heart of our mission! ❤️

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗲 – 𝟮𝟲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶

For the past 26 years, Dr. Dean Mire has dedicated time, talent, and heart to organizing and leading medical mission teams to Haiti through the Haiti Outreach Program of Knoxville, Tennessee.

On 22 mission trips, Dr. Mire has worked alongside volunteers to bring compassionate medical care to Bouly, where, until the first medical mission in 2000, residents had never seen medical professionals.

Although political instability and gang violence have prevented us from organizing medical missions since 2018, our Program continues to fund the medical clinic, including the salaries of one doctor and two nurses, medicines, prenatal and postnatal care, and vaccines.

Dr. Mire is deeply committed to our mission and one of our most active volunteers, helping with fundraising efforts and advocacy. We are inspired by his unwavering dedication to helping “the least among us”.

When asked why he continues to serve, Dr. Mire says, "Haiti has been a big part of my life and that of my family since I was asked by Fr. Al [Humbrecht, Sacred Heart Cathedral pastor from 1997-2010] to get involved. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Boucan-Carré and Bouli. I feel I have gained far more from my trips and friendships developed than I have given."

We're on a mission to raise $50,000 to help the Medical Clinic in Bouly continue providing lifesaving care in Haiti.

Since the hospital in Mirebalais closed in early 2025 due to gang violence, more patients are relying on the clinic in Bouly, while the cost of medications continues to rise.

Your generosity will help provide:
💙 Prenatal nutrition for mothers and babies.
💙 Lifesaving medications.
💙 Transportation costs related to getting critical medical supplies across rugged mountain terrain.
💙 Day-to-day operations of the clinic, including salaries of a clinic manager, a doctor, and two nurses.

In addition, a new goal this year is to purchase reliable satellite communications so our medical team can stay connected with their families and consult with medical colleagues when specialized expertise is needed.

Haiti has some of the 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 in the Western Hemisphere. In 2000, when our first medical mission reached the rural village of Bouly, it was the first time many residents had ever seen medical professionals.

Today, thanks to the generosity of our donors, a modern clinic provides primary care to 60–80 patients each week, prenatal services for dozens of expectant mothers every month, and life-saving vaccinations made possible through solar-powered refrigeration.
