Oak Grove Homeschool Cooperative is hiring teachers for the 2022-2023 academic year. We will be seeking to fill various positions within our middle and high school programs. We are looking for committed teachers to complement our vision of the Co-op. It will be fundamental to provide knowledge, support, Christian values, and engaging instruction to students.
The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with an ability to partner effectively with the home teacher and will ensure an authentic relationship with the students they serve.
FULL TIME AND PART TIME POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE: Elementary grades, Middle School subjects: Math, Pre-Algebra, Physics, High School subjects: World History, American History, Teacher Aides
JOB DESCRIPTION: CO-OP LEAD TEACHER
REPORTS PRIMARILY TO: Principal
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
To create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth in keeping with the Oak Grove mission and values; to implement the co-op’s chosen curriculum in partnership with parents with the goal of motivating students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for their education in higher grades in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish and maintain good relationships with parents and other staff members.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Believes in the Oak Grove Homeschool Co-op mission and seeks to create a classroom culture in keeping with our values.
Provides an outstanding support base for committed homeschoolers who desire to do school in community and comes alongside families to create an engaging classroom experience to enhance their home-schooling experience.
Maintains Christian conduct and atmosphere, setting an example for a child to follow.
Designs lessons to enhance the classroom experience to include cooperative work, inquiry, and problem-solving strategies.
In co-operation with parents, evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
Creates and maintains a tidy environment.
Collaborate with other teachers, parents and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings.
Plan and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and events.
Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, webinars, and in-service opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
Proven experience as a teacher
Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills
Well-organized and committed
Creative and energetic
Strong moral values and discipline. Committed Christian with evidence of a daily walk; willingness to sign our school statement of faith.
Knowledge of CPR
Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject with a certificate in education
Desire to partner with families in homeschooling their children
Home school experience preferred
