NAMI Knoxville was proud to attend the CIT Crisis Intervention Training Team graduation ceremony today. The McNabb Center provides the 40 hour training to help de-escalate situations and identify mental illness cases.

A group of thirty-one law enforcement officers, first responders and medical staff graduated from Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training today.

Participating agencies included AMR - East Tennessee, Covenant Health of East Tennessee, Dolly Parton Children's Hospital, Knox County Sheriff's Office, Knoxville Fire Department - TN, Knoxville Police Department - TN McGhee Tyson Airport Knoxville, TN Airport Authority, Rural Metro Fire - Knox County, UT Medical Emergency Department and Security, and University of Tennessee Police Department

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training brings law enforcement, nurses, security staff and other frontline professionals together for 40 hours of intensive preparation.

By working as a team, these professionals gain skills that improve safety, compassion and support for individuals facing mental health challenges.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, McNabb Center had the opportunity to paint the iconic Rock at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with an important reminder: Find Joy Every Day!

Mental health is just as important as physical health, and sometimes the smallest moments of joy can make a big difference. Whether it’s spending time with loved ones, enjoying nature, practicing gratitude or simply taking a moment for yourself, we encourage everyone to seek out joy in their daily lives.
