🏈 It’s another McNabb Center Moment on WVLT’s Football Night Live!

Did you know the McNabb Center provides therapeutic foster care?

In this video, Foster Care Specialist Emily explains how the program provides foster parents with additional training, case management and ongoing support to help them confidently care for children and teens who have experienced trauma or challenging circumstances.

Foster families come in many forms, including single parents, couples and families with biological or adopted children. What matters most is the willingness to provide a safe, supportive home for a child in need.

More than 1 in 3 women and more than 1 in 6 men experience sexual or physical violence by an intimate partner during their lifetimes, according to the CDC.

This is why, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we are raising awareness, supporting survivors and reminding our communities that help is available.

💜 The McNabb Center is here to help. We provide comprehensive domestic violence services, including a 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelter, court advocacy, counseling, transitional housing and outreach services for individuals and families experiencing abuse.

“People, on average, wait 11 years after the onset of symptoms to get help. And I think that’s for a lot of different reasons; it may be access to treatment; it might be stigma. That’s what we’re trying to do is normalize mental health and taking care of it. We know the sooner we get help, the better outcomes there can be,” said Allen.

🏈 It’s another McNabb Center Moment on WVLT’s Football Night Live!

In this video, Healthy Families East Tennessee Program Coordinator Rae Warshol shares how the program helps new and expecting parents build strong, healthy families.

Healthy Families is a free and voluntary home visitation program for parents who are expecting a child or have recently welcomed a baby. Family Support Specialists provide information about child development and help families navigate resources such as housing, WIC and SNAP. Support can continue until the child turns five or begins kindergarten.

Getting connected is easy. Families can complete a referral form through the Home Visitation section of mcnabbcenter.org.

The McNabb Center is also hiring Family Support Specialists to serve families in communities across East Tennessee. Visit mcnabbcenter.org/employment/ to learn more and explore current opportunities.

Throughout October, the McNabb Center is proud to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month and stand with survivors, advocates and community partners working to end domestic violence.

We are grateful to our local leaders and partners across East Tennessee who continue to raise awareness, support survivors and strengthen resources for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Your partnership helps create safer communities and reminds survivors that help and support are available.

Thank you to Mayor Tim Kelly, Judge Rob Philyaw, Mayor Indya Kincannon, Chris Cutshaw Hamblen County Mayor and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for standing with the McNabb Center and helping bring greater awareness to domestic violence throughout our communities.

Together, we can continue to raise awareness, support survivors and work toward a future free from domestic violence. 💜

The Claiborne County Recovery Home means more than having a place to stay. It means having a local place for hope, support and a new beginning.

For women working toward recovery from substance use disorders, having a safe, healthy and sober living environment close to home can provide the stability and support needed to take the next steps toward independence.

The Recovery Home is an important resource for Claiborne County, helping women continue their recovery journey while remaining connected to their community and building a stronger foundation for the future.
