Zoom in what do you see?
We gave the youth participants a squawk about an aircraft radio issue. Just a complaint about a problem with the radio, from a pilot. Not a lot of information to go off of. As a collective group of 15 kids, asked and answered questions. They gathered facts and selected trouble shooting procedures to work through the problem. They requested information from manuals and log books. They had it nailed down in about ten mins. They thought trough the problem and made the repair. Yes high school age kids.
Some of the kids knew what to do, and some did not. Those that did not know what questions to ask, observed. Working through problems both inside and outside the cockpit are what we do. Passing the knowledge along to the younger generation is priceless. What the kids that learned that evening, they will use for the rest of their life's.
Help us create this type of learning experience for todays youth. We are holding a fundraising raffle now. Invest 50.00 and win an airplane. Invest 50.00 and help develop tomorrows leaders.

The problem was a cut in the insulation and a shield wire was intermittently shorting the wire. the wire was the mic and the radio was transmitting on its own.
