LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL ANNUAL EVENT!

At Mount Olive, our event will take place on October 23rd from 5pm-6pm and our theme is Lights on Literacy! We will have a special guest from the Knox County Library, some healthy snacks and drinks, and a hands-on literacy activity!

Afterschool programs make a difference in the lives of young people every day, inspiring learning and preparing students for a bright future! Put the for the programs that help our kids, families, and communities thrive.
The official day is Thursday, October 23rd, but be on the lookout for special events being scheduled at your childs school throughout the week.

Summer SHADES 2025 Sign-Up

Summer is just right around the corner! Summer pre-registration is now up. We are open at Pond Gap, New Hopewell, Karns, and Powell.

Go to www.shadesofdevelopment.org. There is a green tab at the top that says "Enrollment". Click this then click "Summer Enrollment". The page is a little lengthy, but it does have pretty much everything you need to know about summer. Reading this will likely answer any question you have. It is very important that you read it all. If you are wanting to attend a site that you have not attended yet, please let me know so we can get you pulled to that site before you enroll.

Please note that this step alone DOES NOT secure your spot. This is just the pre-registration process. We follow the same process in the summer that we do for the school year. This means that when you fill out the pre-registration, you will be contacted and given 48 hours to attend an orientation and submit all required paperwork and applicable fees. Failure to do this will forfeit your spot on the waitlist.

Today is Lights On Afterschool Day! We celebrate the many Knoxville-area afterschool programs that serve our young people and families with high-quality programs and activities, including City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation! Thanks to everyone who works to keep the lights on -- and our children safe and enriched -- after the school day is over.
