Senior Citizens Home Assistance Service, Inc. Since 1970 Senior Citizens Home Assistance Service, Inc. We provide services in the home, in assisted living facilities, or in long-term care facilities.

SCHAS is a nonprofit providing compassionate, non-medical in-home caregiving services for older adults, Veterans, and adults with disabilities across East Tennessee, helping them remain safe, independent, and living with dignity in their own homes. has helped our clients maintain their independence and dignity while continuing to live in the comfort of their own homes.

Weekly Wednesday Client/Caregiver Story:

When Ms. Olsen first contacted our agency, she was struggling to remain independent at home. Due to mobility limitations and a lack of family support nearby, everyday tasks such as meal preparation, housekeeping, and transportation have become overwhelming.

After completing an assessment, we matched her with a compassionate caregiver who provided assistance with daily activities, companionship, and support with community appointments. Over the next several months, Ms. Olsen quality of life improved significantly. She was able to maintain her independence, remain safe in her home, and become more socially engaged.

Ms. Olsen shared that having a reliable caregiver not only eased her physical challenges but also provided peace of mind and reduced feelings of isolation. Today, she continues to thrive at home and enjoys greater confidence, comfort, and stability in her daily life.

The SCHAS Monroe County team is all heart and hard work. They are not into the spotlight, but they were gracious enough to pause for a picture to say thank you to the John D. Grubb and Louise G. Sumner Fund for Monroe County through the for their generous two-year grant to support our Monroe clients who rely on our Equitable Access Care Program (EACP). The EACP makes it possible for these clients to receive the care and support they need to continue to live at home safely and with dignity. We are so appreciative.
