Everyone deserves the opportunity to plan their future—but for many East Tennesseans, cost stands in the way.
A Step Ahead exists to remove financial barriers to preventive reproductive healthcare so people can make the best decisions for themselves and their families.
Our services are available to anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in our 16-county East Tennessee service area. While every client’s story is different, the typical A Step Ahead client is a hardworking mom in her late 20s or early 30s who doesn’t qualify for TennCare, doesn’t have affordable health insurance, and simply can’t absorb an unexpected medical bill.
We partner with trusted healthcare providers across East Tennessee to help cover the costs of:
đź’ś Birth control and family planning services
đź’ś Annual wellness exams and cervical cancer screenings (Pap smears)
đź’ś STI testing and lab work
đź’ś IUD and implant insertion and removal
đź’ś Follow-up care
đź’ś Transportation assistance when needed
