Supporting Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) Means Better Care for Individuals with IDD! ⭐

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) play a critical role in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). DSPs need access to essential resources to provide the high-quality care that these individuals deserve. From specialized training and adaptive equipment to behavioral support and community integration tools, these resources can make a difference.

Adequate staffing, communication aids, and advocacy support are also crucial to empowering DSPs. Not only do these resources enhance care and help individuals with IDD lead fulfilling, inclusive lives, but may also reduce burnout in the workforce.

✔️Sensory tools: Fidget toys, weighted blankets, sensory bins, noise-canceling headphones, light covers, and calming jars can help students regulate their sensory needs, improve focus, and enhance emotional well-being.

The annual TN-NADD conference will be held September 19, 2024. TN-NADD is the TN chapter of the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed and brings together professionals from both the mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities fields as well as individuals and families with lived experience.
