Project VEGGIE

Project VEGGIE Project V.E.G.G.I.E. stands for Vols Educating about Growing Gardens and Inspiring Environmentalism. As a member of Project V.E.G.G.I.E.

you will learn how to manage a garden (if you don’t already know how), gain experience in growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, and more, have access to FREE FRESH FRUITS, VEGETABLES, AND FLOWERS, build long-lasting friendships with people who have similar interests to you, and be a part of UT’s FIRST EVER community garden!

Hello everyone, I've noticed the recent uptick in activity both here and on the corresponding 'group'. I'm trying to get in contact with both Eco-Vols and SPEAK leadership to facilitate the hand-off of these outlets to whomever is most appropriate so Project VEGGIE can once again start making an impact on UT's campus. PV has had its ups and downs, and I'm overjoyed to see the signs of renewed interest!

Hello everyone. Today Project Veggie has received disappointing news. We have been working terribly hard to get a garden established on campus. Meeting after meeting, design after design. We submitted our proposal for a garden at Pres Court to the Campus Planning and Design Committee and they have some "reservations" about the idea.

Currently, I am not sure what this means for the future of PV. We will continue to fight for a garden.

Hello all, I know PV has been MIA for awhile now, but please do trust that Emily and I are working hard to reestablish a garden. We are now looking at a plot over by Reese Hall in Presidential Court. We feel confident that a garden will be ready to go by Spring. Please hold tight!

It's high time Project VEGGIE gets together to plant seeds of peace and love for the Vols community! Contact me if you agree!

Hello all!
I apologize for PV's hiatus. We have had a rough time securing land for a garden. The tennis courts are expanding, which means our current plot will soon be unavailable.
However! We are discussing other potential areas, and I am confident that we will again have a garden.

Here's an offer to you guys: If you are interested in holding a PAID garden manager position, please contact Lena Ayoub.

Dear Aramark Corporation, UT students want a dining provider that uses its tremendous purchasing power to support a healthy food system that strengthens local economies, respects human rights, ensures ecological sustainability, and facilitates community involvement and education. In the Fall of 2013…

Hello all! I know it's been a minute since our last meeting, but no worries! I'm in contact with someone from the Ag gardens so we can start playing in the dirt…I mean, gardening. ;)

Our next meeting will hopefully be next week, but regardless of meeting time, I will post/email everyone about garden days in time to make plans.

Project Veggie will have its first meeting Monday at 4 pm in HSS 114! See you all there :)
