Adeline is a sweet, sassy, spunky 7 year old that likes unicorns, pink, her goats, playing with her brothers, and being a little hooligan in general. She was flown to Vanderbilt on Saturday, July 29, 2017 after a trip to a local ER and subsequent CT scan for a severe headache and facial paralysis revealed a "mass" on her brain. A MRI on Sunday, July 30, 2017 revealed the devastating diagnosis of D

iffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. At this time there is no cure, no surgery, and no treatment to save our girl but we are hoping that will change soon. This page was created so that loved ones, friends, and the public can follow along with her fight, get updates, and give support to her immediate family. This page is run by me, her Aunt Christa Shirley, but may be updated at any time by her parents, Kiley and Michael Underhill, or her Grandmother, Lisa Akers. They were the best of friends. Adeline and Xander were always together. She would always tell him "it's OK little buddy." Then she got brain cancer. She fought for 22 months. He lost his best friend and instead of growing up together, he reads her books at her grave. Are people fu***ng aware yet? "Happy" Brain Cancer awareness month...

Seymour helped me prep Addie's wheelchair for its 4th family since she passed. We loan it out to families directly or sometimes through social services at our local children's hospital. It's helped people enjoy family vacations, it's helped DIPG kids be more comfortable (for those who don't remember, all our insurance was willing to pay for was a regular adult wheel chair 😡) and has made traveling easier on some families. I need to get her reclining green one back soon so I can loan that one out as well. We fought SO hard for those specialized wheelchairs and had to have foundations help us acquire them since insurance was basically useless!! But it's nice being able to help other DIPG families the way those foundations helped us! Please say a prayer and send good vibes to the newest recipient, Callie, and her family.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Addie Mae but the gloves and tags were still attached to the hat so someone was nice enough to edit that out and do some more edits of my baby girl. I can't help but wonder what she'd be like today. What she'd ask for for Christmas...probably makeup, a new phone...things like that...she'd be 13 now. Probably sassy as hell, but still a little momma to Xander. Breaks my heart to have to pretend to be happy during the holidays when part of your heart is missing, but gotta do it for my boys...who are getting so big yall wouldn't belive it. Skyler is 16 now and Xander is 9. I wish he had more time with his sister... I wish they both did. Xander remembers bits and parts of Addies funeral and a handful of other things but that's about it. Life is so hard. Anyways, happy holidays to you and yours. Hug your babies.

Today marks 4 years since our sweet girl left this earth. We are forever grateful for the time we had with you sweetheart and to everyone that helped us make that short time even extra sweeter. So many amazing adventures were had that were filled with smiles and laughter. We love you more than words will ever express and miss you terribly every single day.
