Good Morning.
Im going to introduce 2 new boys that came in last week from a small rural shelter in Grundy, Va.
After introducing Sunnie and Cocoa, I'm going to display all the sweet pups i currently have up for adoption. Some have been with me for well over a year and though they are well taken care of, having all their needs met, they are still missing the love of their own family. I am bursting at the seams with deserving pups just like every other shelter and rescue. It's crazy hard to turn down a dog that you know will be euthanized for no other reason then their time is up, they are simply dieing to make room for the next incoming dog.
Shout out to Cassie who took some really great pictures! After introducing all the dogs..I will try to feature a dog a week. Please spread the word...these dogs need a chance. Oh and I'm expecting an owner surrender this week and 3 puppies coming in from Kentucky...as I said, the calls never stop....
Sunnie ( black) and Cocoa (brown) came in together after being dumped together at a apartment complex. They were taken to the shelter where staff are constantly networking to find rescues. The shelter is understaffed, underfunded and completely overwhelmed and it is reality that many get euthanized. The shelters in these rural areas don't even have the funding to give basic shots or do vetting to include spays and neuters before sending them back out to rescues or adoptions. They made their way about 5 hours to Md.where they are thriving. They are both around the age of 1, both are now neutered and up to date on shots. Sunnie is quieter, more laid back, but so very sweet and gentle. Cocoa is alot more outgoing and s***ky. Both are great with other dogs and kids. Both love attention and learned the dog door within a day. They have amazing temperments, excited to see you when you walk in the door and both would make great companions. They are thought to be Australian Shepherds/Aussie mix
