Our local chapter has not had the privilege of rescuing a greyhound from the track environment in over a year. There are now waiting lists to adopt because of track closures and COVID.

Unfortunately, the pandemic has created an urgent situation for these sweet dogs. Not only have the Florida tracks been forced to close earlier than scheduled due to the virus, we were just informed Friday night that the race track in Birmingham has closed. They have six months or less to move all of their Greys.

This is very time sensitive and we are all under a grave deadline. Now is the time for us to come to their aid and they need it desperately. We need foster homes and these Greys need families.

If you want to adopt, foster, or have been thinking about fostering, we're going to make a trip to Birmingham as soon as possible depending on the weather. Please keep in mind that our fosters are provided:
Candidae kibble
Crate
Pillow
Veterinary Care
Heart worm, Flea & Tick medications
Leash & Collar
Above all, 24 hr. support!

If you cannot adopt, foster, drive, or ride along with someone, consider donating since we will need funds to help pay for spaying / neutering, short nail trims, dentals, and their care until they are adopted. Any amount will help since the care they receive is considerably more than the adoption fee we charge.

UPDATE- Thank you to so many for such a quick response! I need to clarify that we are a small, local chapter in Knoxville, Tennessee. Therefore we ask that if you are considering fostering that you live within 30-45 minute of the city of Knoxville so we can provide everyone with the best support possible!

"About 1500 dogs need to find permanent homes. Until then, they are hoping that foster volunteers will step up and help".

While the tracks were due to close by December, the coronavirus outbreak has moved up the need for dogs to find homes.
