Our living history community has lost a legendary founder of 18th century reenacting.

James “Jim” Townsend, the founder of Jas Townsend and Son, now known as Townsends, passed away this past weekend.

Mr. Townsend was instrumental in cultivating 18th-century reproductions and the business of merchanting. The Townsend family has inspired so many to grow within our beloved hobby.

Our prayers and sincere condolences are with his wife Suzy, son Jonathan, his entire family, and numerous friends of a wonderful man.

The Townsend YouTube is run by his son, Jon, the current president of the company.
