SOAR ministers to at-risk youth in the Lonsdale area to share the gospel through relationships anchored in the love of Christ. We do this through our three main programs: PREP After School (Providing Read Educational Possibilities), PREP Summer Academy and LAMP (Lighting a Mentoring Path).

As we celebrate Mothers, we want to take time to salute the various moms whose lives are intertwined with care for orphans. We celebrate the beauty of adoption. We thank God for the moms who mentor children who need nurture they are not getting. We are in awe of women who foster children, knowing that they need help but also that they may be taken back out of their lives at any point. We rejoice in the legacy of love that is seen in "housemoms" and others who provide mothering in residential care settings. We are also prayerful as we consider other moms, moms who recognized that the life they carried was precious and deserved to be born but who also knew that they were not equipped to give their child what they needed. Many orphans are abandoned by shameful neglect and abuse, but many orphans had a brave mother who recognized that the best thing she could do for the child she loved was let someone else raise them. May God bless the women around the world doing the vital and often overlooked job that matters more to children than any other, being a mom.
