Brooks' Books

We created this organization in memory of our infant son, Brooks Henderson Beeler. Brooks remained on ECMO until February 4th when he passed away.

Brooks’s Books seeks to comfort families and children being
placed on ECMO or grieving the loss of a loved one through providing books to hospitals,
grief camps, school counselors, and school social workers. Brooks was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) on December 19, 2022. He had a successful Norwood surgery on December 23rd but contracted an infection on January 5th and was placed

on ECMO. As Brooks' moms we would read to him each night that he was on ECMO. This brought a feeling of normalcy and comfort to us and we hope these books will do the same for others.

Social media can be so connectional, especially with the heart community! Last year the author of this book and mother to a thriving heart warrior, Melanie Tucker, messaged us on Instagram after seeing our mission and Brooks' story and offered to send us copies of her book, 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘳! These books are sweet and special and we are proud to have several copies on our book cart at !

Tomorrow, Friday, February 7th, is National Wear Red Day!! We hope you will join us in wearing red for our heart Angel, Brooks, and the 1 in 100 born with a CHD! Wear red, post a picture, tag us and help us raise awareness for CHD!

We love the ECMO team at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt! They took the Brooks' Books cart around yesterday and one lucky patient even had ECMO Specialist Anthony read to them ❤️📖
The way this team cares for their very sick patients AND their families are exactly why we chose to partner with them for this book adventure! ❤️

TWO years ago today Brooks Henderson Beeler entered this world and changed our lives forever. He is the inspiration for Brooks’ Books and we are so thankful for the ways his spirit and legacy live on through this organization. Happy Birthday, Brooks!!

This week we also celebrated ONE YEAR since we officially rolled out Brooks’ Books. We are so thankful to all of you for joining us on this journey as we honor the life of Brooks and bring comfort to children and families during some of their most difficult seasons. Saturday, August 17th is the Greater Knoxville Heart Walk and we hope you will join Team Brooks' Bunch and walk with us!

The walk is at Zoo Knoxville at 8:30, arrive at 8:15.
We would love for you to officially register with our team through the link below if you can but you don't have to in order to walk!
We have set a $500 fundraising goal as a team too and you don't have to walk to donate!
