Knoxville Internationals Network - KIN

Knoxville Internationals Network - KIN With 44,000 internationals representing 122 countries (03-2021 numbers), the task is daunting. But Knoxville Internationals Network is just that: a network.

KIN encourages and empowers long-time locals to see and accept their international neighbors as we envision a metro Knoxville where everyone is welcomed--even embraced--regardless of country-of-origin. We connect volunteers with internationals, bringing in other nonprofits, government organizations, churches, and businesses when appropriate so our international neighbors can thrive. This might mea

n English as a Second Language classes, driving lessons, advice on parenting, financial guidance, or any of a hundred other things one needs to know before one can truly integrate into metro Knoxville life. Most importantly, we connect people for the purpose of friendship--something we all need! This year (2021), we're encouraging everyone with our theme, The Nations Next Door. We'll help you recognize and befriend people from other countries who are already beside you at work, at school, or in your neighborhood. If you want to know more, go to www.kin-connect.org today.

Welcoming refugees is something we all get to be part of. ๐Ÿ’™ At Knoxville International Network, we believe support starts with friendship, shared meals, transportation, English practice, and genuine connection. Small acts of kindness can make a new place begin to feel like home.

In honor of World Refugee Day this Friday, KIN is hosting Walk in Their Shoesโ€“Step Into Their Story, an interactive workshop focused on the experiences of refugees and immigrants through real-life stories, cultural humility discussions, and conversations around current immigration policies.

Before someone is called a refugee, they are a person. A parent. A neighbor. A friend. A child of God. ๐Ÿ’™ Every refugee carries a story bigger than displacement, one filled with courage, resilience, loss, hope, and the strength to begin again.

This upcoming World Refugee Day, we honor the people behind the label and remember that courage can sometimes look like starting over. ๐ŸŒŽ

We hope you will join us on June 20th for โ€œWalk in Their Shoesโ€“Step Into Their Storyโ€, an interactive workshop designed to help participants better understand the refugee journey, the challenges of resettlement, and the contributions refugees bring to their new communities. Together, weโ€™ll learn, listen, and grow in cultural understanding as we seek to be a more welcoming Knoxville. ๐Ÿค

Weโ€™re excited to highlight our new program called Sent Local ๐ŸŒโค๏ธ

This unique opportunity invites individuals with missional hearts to live on mission right where they are by building meaningful relationships with international families in our community. Through Sent Local, volunteers are paired with a family and serve by delivering bags of household items, hygiene products, and staple foods twice a month, all provided by KIN.

But this is about more than meeting physical needs. Itโ€™s about building genuine friendships. As relationships grow, volunteers are equipped with practical tools to build trust and create natural opportunities for gospel conversations through authentic connection.

If youโ€™ve ever felt called to be a missionary but havenโ€™t been able to go far, this is your opportunity to be sent, right where you are.

We have plenty of spots left! Head to https://www.kin-connect.org/sent-local.html to apply.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

We are very grateful for the many internationals who served with courage and dedication. May we never take for granted the freedoms we have, and may we continue to build a community rooted in peace and unity.
