The LORD'S Child With over 795 million people undernourished in the world today, we exist to help end hunger wherever we are.

The LORD’s Child is the mission arm of THE GATHERING CHURCH, and was founded in 2007 by Gene Wolfenbarger. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help end hunger wherever we are in the name of Jesus. Headquartered in the mountains of southern Appalachia, The LORD’s Child was born out of a great concern for the traditional and social orphans around us. That concern has now been taken on a global scale with children and communities in Uganda, India, Haiti, Kenya, and South Africa. When someone is hungry not by choice, it’s an opportunity for us to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Lack of food is a situation that can be seen every day across the world, as well as in our own backyard. The Lord’s Child exists to help end hunger wherever we are in the name of Jesus. Whether it’s one of our partners in Africa or right here in Knoxville, our team wakes up every day eager to love the communities God has placed us in. To date, it has been our privilege to feed and serve over 20,000 children globally and here in our city.

Food Pantry Update: Our food pantry is currently paused, and not open on Thursdays. We have loved serving our neighbors, and are excited about what God has in store for the food pantry in the future! Please join us in prayer as we believe for our new The LORD's Child Centers and for our Leadership.

Our food donations are being taken to the Sevier County Food Ministries in Sevierville. Their pantry is open from 12-4 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For more specific details visit: https://seviercountyfoodministries.org/

The Lord’s Child is saddened by the loss of our dear friend, Marlene Swanepoel. Marlene was faithful and caring, always wanting the best for the food pantry and her fellow volunteers. Marlene can say just like the Apostle Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7 While we mourn her loss, we find comfort in knowing Marlene is present with the Lord.

The Lord’s Child was able to bask in the sun this morning while being the hands and feet of the Son, Jesus our Lord. Every Thursday, our food pantry serves those in need in East Tennessee with frozen meat, bread, fruits and vegetables, and more. Our hours every Thursday, rain or shine, are 8:30 am to 11:15 am.

We were blessed this morning with an abundance of volunteers. See y’all next week!

The Lord’s Child is so thankful for our friends at Concord United Methodist Church and their donation of 1200 lbs of sweet potatoes. We picked them up this morning, they loaded us up, and Miss Cookie and I put them in the pantry.

“Let everyone give all their praise and thanks to the Lord! Here’s why—he’s better than anyone could ever imagine. Yes, he’s always loving and kind, and his faithful love never ends.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭107‬:‭1‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Everyone at the Lord’s Child is thankful for the opportunity to serve our guests. Today was turkey and fixin’ day. Happy Thanksgiving!
