Legacy Parks Foundation works to assure that our community enjoys exceptional recreational opportunities, natural beauty and open spaces, and that those assets exist for generations to come. Since 2007, the Foundation has raised $11 million in private dollars for parks and open space, helped conserve 1,000 acres of forest and farmland in East Tennessee and added nearly 600 acres of parkland in Kno

x County. Outdoor Knoxville and the Knoxville Urban Wilderness are two initiatives launched by Legacy Parks which promote outdoor recreation as an integral component to the health and economic vitality of our community.

Help us put the SOKNO in SOKNO!

We’re raising $25,000 to bring 10-foot-tall, iconic metal letters spelling SOKNO to the SoKno Rail Trail & Art Walk. Each letter will be transformed into a colorful mural, creating a one-of-a-kind photo opportunity and a signature feature along the Art Walk.

Every gift gets us one step closer to making these larger-than-life letters a reality. Help us reach our $25,000 goal and be part of something that will become a recognizable symbol of South Knoxville for years to come.

Today we celebrated the opening of Karns Landing, the latest adaptive kayak launch on Beaver Creek, marking another milestone in the effort to create an accessible Knox County Water Trail.

Karns Landing is the third adaptive kayak launch completed on Beaver Creek, along with Roy Arthur Stormwater Park and Powell High Landing. Designed with accessibility in mind, the new launch includes an ADA-compliant gangway and ramp, handrails, transfer area and a wide platform that makes entering and exiting a kayak easier for everyone!

We are proud to partner with Knox County on a shared commitment to protect Beaver Creek and expand access by creating trails, parks, boat launches and conserving land along Beaver Creek.
