As many of you know, the journey of Aerial Helping Hands has been nothing short of a roller coaster. Next quarter, we officially step into Year 3, and I can honestly say this path has stretched me, tested me, and shaped me in ways I never expected.
For those who may not know me personally, my name is Jordan Ligon(Jordan is silent), President and Founder of Aerial Helping Hands. What started as a movement has, over time, felt like it has been dwindling down for several reasons and it’s important for me to be transparent about that. Aerial Helping Hands started with just me, my mom serving as my advisor, and my 4-year-old daughter, Rhiot, listed as an executive the only people who have remained consistent and believed in me from day one. In the beginning, I tried to bring others on who I believed shared the same heart and vision, but many weren’t interested or couldn’t commit, which ultimately led me to go “solo.”
When I went solo, I was able to recollect, refocus, and rebuild. I gained a few partnerships and certifications, built a new team that has been incredibly patient and understanding. Even when momentum slowed , we continued to show up and serve, laying a foundation that many may not have seen but was still being built.
I’ll be honest, I feel as if I have failed this organization, the amazing team I have now, and the community and city I love oh so much to live and serve in. There are simply too many behind-the-scenes accomplishments under our belt for us not to be further along heading into this year. That responsibility falls on me. I’ve been strong, but at times cowardly and inconsistent, discouraged by the lack of support I expected, and that affected my leadership.
That said, this is not the end of the story. 😭
We fully plan to get on the board this year and continue to move forward with intention, structure, and accountability. There’s a lot of meaningful work ahead!
