Do you have proper spares aboard?
Take bedding home to clean/air
Clean interior and Install moisture absorbent
Replace any weathered caulking
Hatches, windows & deck fittings
Replace any worn dock lines & snubbers
Have you changed oil and filters
Check/change transmission fluid or Foot grease
Are all belts in good condition?
Replace impellers.

America’s Boating Club Knoxville is planning to teach the comprehensive “Cruising Under Power and Sail” (CUPS) Course.
CUPS is a comprehensive course for both new and experienced boaters. Because there are no prerequisites for taking the course, students with various levels of experience or none on the water may enroll. The course is designed for all who contemplate sail or powerboat cruising, or for already active cruisers who would like to learn more.
Although the details of cruising differ for coastal and inland boating, the planning process is similar. The basics that boaters need to know for coastal cruising also apply to lake and river boating. This course covers the overall preparation and process for cruising in the sixteen chapters with an anticipated course length of eight two-hour sessions plus the exam (online).

Session 1: Chapters 1 – 3 Preparing, Boat, Propulsion & Electrical
Session 2: Chapters 4 – 5 Subsystems, Electronics & Navigation
Session 3: Chapters 6 – 7 Communications, Safety Equipment
Session 4: Chapters 8 – 10 Security, Anchoring, Weather
Session 5: Chapters 11 – 12 Crew, Provisioning
Session 6: Chapters 13 – 14 124 Emergencies, Medical
Session 7: Chapters 15 – 16 119 Chartering, Crossing Borders
Session 8: Class exercise presentations & exam review
The course will be taught virtually using Google Meet later this winter and recorded. If you miss a session you can catch up.
Member cost is $65 and nonmember is $85 (340+ page eBook).
