Stan Saturday is simply at time to love on others. To share Christ as described in Matthew 25.

The 3rd Saturday has been chosen to follow Stan's example at Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries and love lavishly on those he deeply cared about.

I thought nothing could make me happier than the anticipation I feel days before Stan Saturday. Truly, it's sooooo my happy place. We go THIS WEEKEND and in preparing today I was bouncing around on the KARM website. That's when I found this jewel. I've been on this site a million times and have never seen this video.

Andrew is a dear friend of mine who is now ON STAFF at KARM. He totally takes care of us when we show up and has even seen to it I have my own contraband key (wait, um....just kidding). Andrew always meets us in the parking lot to make sure we can get our stash in the door. Andrew makes things happen as we bring our own kind of madness. He has been nothing but kind and encouraging and allowed me to heal as I hang out in Stan's world.

So, enjoy this quick video as you hear Andrew's story. You will learn how KARM really does change lives.....and you will get to hear my sweet husband's voice.

KARM is an amazing place. Friends are met, hearts are filled and lives begin the change. Especially those of us who are welcomed in. There’s no place I’d rather be.

Tomorrow I get to be here — with Stan’s friends. The day before is always one of reflection. How blessed I am that they have allowed me in. To inhabit the place that meant so much to my husband is both hard and healing. I always leave full, yet empty. I completely understand his desire to live closer. Leaving is the hardest. I know there is one more story to listen to, one more hug to give. I want to be in a hundred places and stay a little longer. The need is endless. As long as God allows, I will come.

The end of Acts chapter 2 talks about the fellowship of believers. This HAS to be my most favorite thing about Stan Saturday.

“All the believers were together and had everything in common…. Every day they continue to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes, and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all people”.

Join us THIS weekend. You won’t find fellowship sweeter anywhere else.

Someone asked what is Stan Saturday?

It’s a cup full of coffee. A bag full of snacks. A clean shirt or a pair of socks. It’s a “Happy to see you.” and “I’m so proud of your new job.” It’s homemade banana nut bread and soo many hugs. It’s just a conversation and even more listening. It’s remembering to bring sunscreen for a friend who had asked. And a bottle of water that doesn’t come with a lecture. It’s standing in the rain during concessions instead of canceling. It’s driving for more than 5 hours to serve and disappointed when you have to work. It remembering the puzzle books and grabbing a few bus passes. It’s seeing friends who you’ve actually missed.

Stan Saturday is being Jesus, on purpose.

You can join us this Saturday. You will be changed. 💚💚💚💚
