Action Items for now thru July 26!
The Knox County Commission vote is on July 26, 2021. Here’s how you can help!
Even (and especially) if you reached out before, contact the county commissioners again by email and phone to remind them we’re still here, and still passionate. (Commissioners Ward and Schoonmaker do not need to be called directly at this point, so focus calls on others.) In your own words, calmly and briefly note:
You oppose rezoning 1401 Bexhill Drive in district 4.
Ask that commissioners follow the sector plan-low-density residential is what surrounds the field and is the appropriate sector plan for the area.
Rezoning the land to allow for commercial development is not appropriate in the Bexhill neighborhood.
Rezoning the land to allow for a strip mall would destroy the neighborhood's character and damage the integrity of our community.
2. Submit comments on the County Commission agenda page.
Visit the Knox County Submit Comments page.
In the Agenda Item/Topic box, enter 3-D-21-RZ or 3-A-21-SP.
In the Group / Agency / Organization box, you can enter Ebenezer Corridor Neighborhoods, your own specific neighborhood, or leave it blank.
Follow the same four points in your comments; remember to use your own words. These are public comments, and courtesy is best.
3. Plan to attend our Bexhill Yard Party on Sunday, July 25!
Date & Time: Sunday, July 25, 4-6pm
Location: 1404 Bexhill Drive, near the entrance to Bexhill neighborhood
Vendors: Island Girl Acai Bowls, 865 Life, and maybe more!
Come out for good company and good food, and get your T-shirt for the July 26 meeting. Kids, pets, and lawn chairs welcome!
4. Attend the County Commission meeting on Monday, July 26, at 6:30pm.
We’ll be sending out more info on directions and parking, and will have T-shirts to distribute for those of you who can arrive early (T-shirts also available at July 25 yard party!). We want to make a strong show of support so our elected officials can see where we stand on the issue.
Planning to attend? Please sign up here to let us know. You can also request or offer carpooling info, and include your cell number for alerts on any last-minute changes.
Lastly, here’s a quick list of where to expect updates.
We’ll be doing our best to post all updates everywhere, at whatever spot is best for you!

Developers are seeking approval to turn Bexhill Field into commercial retail space with at least TWO drive-thru’s. As local homeowners and residents, we advocate for the preservation of Bexhill Field as a green space for community use.
