Today over 3,000 reusable masks were delivered to the students in the Knoxville school district, thanks to all of you!
These were made possible by a community-wide effort led by the Knoxville Elementary PTO and Women Inspiring Change Knoxville (WICK).
This quarter's WICK project was to help the school provide masks for all 1,700 KCSD students.
The Women Inspiring Change Knoxville group and PTO couldn't have done this without the support of MANY. Peace Tree Brewing Company offered its website as a place where people could make an online donation and quickly raised over $1,000. Knoxville Panther Booster Club also responded to our plea for help and donated $1,000. Twenty-two members of WICK donated $1,750, and Elementary PTO donated $1,000.
Even with these generous donations, the goal of supplying masks to all students seemed unobtainable until the organization Your Life Matters got involved. The group still wanted to do something with their funds raised for the Knoxville community's well-being. The committee voted to donate $7,000 to purchase masks for KCSD students. With their donation, this project was able to buy TWO masks for each student. The masks were purchased through local businesses of Ramaeker Screen Printing and Up 'N Stitchz Both businesses offered discounts and made it possible for us to buy the needed masks.

Wanted to let you all know how wonderful our community is. We have received a $1,000 donation from the Knoxville Panther Booster Club to help with the masks!

Anyone else feeling how busy life is right now and how hard it is to get a check in the mail? 🙋🏻‍♀️ A few of us are meeting at Peace Tree to work on wrapping up this qrt. If you weren’t able to get your check in the mail, feel free to drop off your check with us at PT at 6pm.

Hello WICK, thank you so much for your patience with the 2nd Qrt giving details. We didn’t receive nominations from members this qrt, but a need has presented its self.

The Return to Learn plan is now in place for the Knoxville Community School District. Masks are required for all kids PK-12, as well as teachers. Teachers masks are taken care of by the school district, but for each student to receive a mask, it’s going to require ALOT of support from our community.

WICK & the PTO would like to come together and attempt to purchase face masks for every student in our district, that is approx 1,700 students. We are recommending that WICK members donate $50-$100. Checks can be made out to Knoxville PTO.

We are also looking to work with other groups to make this happen for our community. If you have ideas of other organizations that would like to be involved please email [email protected]
