On Sunday evening, a full-capacity crowd gathered in the pavillion at the Knox Community Park for a meaningful Memorial Day Service honoring "250 years of remembrance." 🇺🇸
Members of the Knox Civic Club hosted the tribute to the brave men and women of the United States military who gave their lives in service to our country and our freedom.
May we continue to honor their legacy of sacrifice and courage, as we remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Here are a few photos from the memorable event. Photos are identified in the comments.

The Civic Club was honored to host a very special day on Thursday! A new lighthouse monument was placed in the Keystone Elementary courtyard in memory of former members, Jeanne Graff and Anna Peck. Jeanne and Anna started the Lighthouse Awards in 2001, to recognize Keystone Elementary students who led by example in the areas of Politeness & Courtesy, Citizenship & Respect, Self-Control, Work Ethic & Responsibility, Best Friend & Helper, Most Improved, and Hardest Worker. The families of Jeanne and Anna were on hand for the new lighthouse dedication, and to help hand out 110 awards to students. Many thanks to all who donated supplies and helped to build the new monument, and congratulations to all of this year's Lighthouse Award recipients!

The Knox Civic Club is a very community-active group of ladies. Here are a few highlights from the April meeting.
The meeting was led by President, Tiki Kahle and tasty refreshments were provided by Darlene Hartman.
Gunner Wilson gave an update on his Eagle Scout project. The GaGa Ball Pit at the park will begin construction on the first weekend in May and should be ready for use during the park opening on Memorial Day weekend.
Wendy Wenner has been working hard researching and obtaining funding for the Pickleball Court which will be installed at the lower end of the park. Things look very promising.
Everything is planned for the annual Memorial Day Service in the park to be held Sunday, May 24 at 7 pm. Girls Scouts will hand out programs. Boy Scout Troop 55 will present/retire the Colors.
William Black, Command Sargent Major US Army retired, will be the guest speaker.
Music will be by The Knox Community Choir.
Mark Kreiger will play "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes. And more!
The program for the evening was Brenda Beikert and Jolene Dodge from the Knox Public Library. All in attendance were enlightened to the variety of programs available through the library including: Libby ebooks & audiobooks. The Library of Things. Law Depot to access samples of legal documents. JigSaw Puzzle Exchange. Greeting Card Exchange. Seed Library. Kanopy Movies & Shows. My Heritage Ancestry Information. All that and more with your library card! knoxpubliclibrary.org
The Civic Club's future events include the Lighthouse awards and dedication of the Lighthouse Memorial at Keystone Elementary School and the Summer Arts in the Park series.
