After checking this afternoon, the wreaths are STILL frozen to the ground. We will NOT be picking up tomorrow. Will shoot for later this week when the temps are to be in the 40's. Sorry for the inconvenience. Enjoy your Sunday.

The removal of wreaths for the Knox Area Cemeteries that was scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed. The wreaths are still frozen to the ground making removal difficult. We will reschedule removal when the weather cooperates. Please spread the word and stay safe everyone.

If anyone is still interested in supporting the buy one, get one free wreath campaign ending today, you can go online to still support the Knox Area. Here is how it's done. 1. Go to Wreaths Across America.org on your phone or computer. 2. Select sponsor a wreath. 3. Select Wreath placement/specific location. Type in PAKUCK - this should bring up Knox Union Cemetery Knox PA. 4. Select this location and follow prompts to sponsor a wreath or 2 or 5. We will get double the wreaths sponsored to cover our veteran's gravestones. If one cemetery is covered, I have the authority to give to one in our area that is not fully covered. Thank you !

Only one more week till Wreaths Across America Day comes to Knox and the surrounding area cemeteries. A combined program is again planned for Saturday, December 14th, at 11 am in the parking lot of the American Legion on Rt. 208 in Knox. If inclement weather happens, stay in your car. We have the program broadcast over the radio for you. After the program, we will dismiss you to drive to the cemetery of your choosing to lay a beautiful wreath at a veteran's grave site. We have 1254 wreaths coming to our area alone!!

If you have never attended or participated, you are missing out on a very emotional event with many participants from age 5 up thru 90 years of age. We have 5 cemetery captains and myself that will be glad to help and answer any questions you may have.

Everyone has or knows someone who is serving or has served in the military services. This event is just one small way we can thank the ones who have passed on in this life. We can remember their service by saying their name as we place a wreath at their grave site, and teach our children the values we hold dear.

This is our 5th year of participating with the Wreaths Across America organization from Maine. We are super pleased to announce that we have covered every veteran's grave site (except the Shippenville area) all five years because of the generous people and businesses in the Keystone School District. Still looking for someone to act as captain for the 4 Shippenville cemeteries. Please reach out to me if you can help. To date there are over 4900 locations participating across the country! To sponsor a wreath costs $17. with every dollar collected going to the wreath fund.

We know this is a busy time of the year with the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, but hopefully you can spare a total of 2 hours to honor our veterans. You will be glad you did.

I want to let the WAA Knox Area Cemetery helpers know that with the warmer, sunny weather today (Tuesday) and the next two days, we have decided to remove the wreaths early. We have no idea how much rain we may receive on Saturday so some are picking up their wreaths early. We want everyone to stay safe. The cemetery captains can let you know if they need help. Some will still be picking up on Saturday because that is when they have the volunteers. Please reach out to the captains to find out the status of your cemetery.

Please share this post with anyone you know that would help with removal. Thank you for your time and help.

Next Saturday, February 10th, at 10 AM we will to retiring the wreaths in our Knox Area Cemeteries. We will need your help again. If you could give us an hour of your time to pick up wreaths, this would be great. Children can help too. Just go to a cemetery in the Knox Area (Keystone School District) and help with the gathering of the wreaths. Gloves, long handled tools or rakes make it go so much faster.

Also, we are very very close to covering our veteran's graves for the December 2024 ceremony. The Buy One Get One campaign really helped us out. We will be accepting wreath sponsorships throughout the year for $17. a wreath. Just reach out to myself or a captain in the area to sponsor a wreath. Thank you to all people and businesses who gave so generously.

Hope to see you next Saturday Feb. 10th at 10am. Romayne McGinnis 814-221-0952 And Wreaths Across America, Knox Area Cemeteries, Location Coordinator
