Critical fire weather conditions will develop late morning and continue through the evening hours as a cold front brings gusty northeasterly winds to the region. Despite the frontal passage, compressional warming ahead of the front will result in temperatures climbing close to the century mark over the southwestern parts of the area today.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Hill Country, Southern Edwards Plateau and Rio Grande Plains (11 AM to 7 PM) Thursday. Breezy northerly winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph and humidity values as low as 13% will produce critical fire conditions across the area. Avoid open flames, keep vehicles off dry grass, use grills on pavement, properly discard ci******es and remember to obey burn bans!

With southerly winds at 20-25 mph across much of the area and relative humidity values dropping to as low as 15% for inland locations and as low as 30% along the coast this afternoon, a Fire Danger Statement has been issued for much of South Texas through 7PM. Make sure to do your part to reduce sparks.

Today was an exciting day as our Fire members underwent comprehensive training in CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed, and LZ training. We extend our gratitude to Uvalde Airlife 5 and Knippa Independent School District for allowing us to utilize their facility for our training.
