Critical fire weather conditions will develop late morning and continue through the evening hours as a cold front brings gusty northeasterly winds to the region. Despite the frontal passage, compressional warming ahead of the front will result in temperatures climbing close to the century mark over the southwestern parts of the area today.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Hill Country, Southern Edwards Plateau and Rio Grande Plains (11 AM to 7 PM) Thursday. Breezy northerly winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph and humidity values as low as 13% will produce critical fire conditions across the area. Avoid open flames, keep vehicles off dry grass, use grills on pavement, properly discard ci******es and remember to obey burn bans!
