Knights Landing One Health Center: Veterinary Clinic This community has many domesticated animals, including dogs, cats, and chickens. Our center focuses on wellness education and preventative medicine.

We are veterinary students of UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, working with the UC Davis medical students to bring healthcare to the Knights Landing community. One Health in Knights Landing
Knights Landing, CA is an economically underserved, agricultural community, particularly the migrant worker population from March through August. Our goal is to improve animal health in the community, be

cause this impacts human health and well-being. Not only is the possibility of zoonotic disease transmission reduced, but healthy animals are less of an economic and emotional burden, and could even improve the livelihood of their owners. UCD medical students in Knights Landing established a monthly medical clinic in 2013. The veterinary school started an animal health center as a One Health counterpart in 2014. In addition to physical exams, screening, and vaccines, we provide education to the community on topics such as nutrition, behavior/mental health, environmental health, and zoonotic diseases. At the beginning of each clinic day, the medical and veterinary teams come together to conduct joint rounds, fostering open communication to develop this One Health model. Through these efforts, we hope to provide this economically underserved community a solution towards a healthier lifestyle, achieved within their means, as well as a training ground for health students and professionals, alike, to broaden their skills as doctors.
