A Field Report from South Asia
We recently received an encouraging report from our local contact in South Asia following a field visit with farmers, church leaders, and community members. The visit included time in fellowship, prayer, ministry encouragement, and assessment of ongoing livelihood development efforts.
One of the key focuses was a millet and colocasia (taro) farming initiative. Despite steep terrain, difficult roads, and the physical demands of reaching the fields, the farmers shared that the crops are progressing well. They are currently managing weeds and preparing for harvest, which is expected between the end of June and the first part of July, depending on weather and crop maturity.
As our local contact reflected on the beauty of the land, he was reminded of the call in Genesis to be faithful stewards of God’s creation — caring for the land wisely so that it may continue to bless families and future generations.
The visit also opened doors for future community development, including agricultural training, demonstration farming, and other livelihood opportunities that could serve farmers, youth, and vulnerable families in the region.
Please continue to pray for the farmers as they prepare for harvest, for wisdom in future planning, and for these efforts to bear lasting fruit in families and communities across South Asia. Thank you for walking with FARMS in this work.
