Rye Spur Volunteer Work Weekend and Campout is right around the corner on June 20-21! We need more people to sign up to help. This is our annual gathering of multiple trail partners including KTA, Back Country Horsemen, Siskiyou Mountain Club, Southern Oregon Nordic Club, Klamath Basin Outdoor Group, Pacific Crest Trails Assoc. and Klamath Basin Snowdrifters. We clear trails all around Fourmile Lake including the Rye Spur, Bull Swamp, South Ridge, Twin Ponds, Badger Lake, Billie Creek Nordic Trail, and (new this year) snowmobile trails.

Please RSVP at the MeetUp Link or contact Heather directly at [email protected] to register.

7 people, 54 hours, 2 brush cutters, 1 chainsaw, 1 pole saw, 4 loppers, 1 McLeod, 2 rakes and a gallon of mixed gas. That's what it takes to wack back heavy brush and maintain drainage on about a mile of the Brown Mnt Trail. We cleared the very brushy switchback climb on the east side of the loop. Thanks to the volunteers that came out today and to the hikers and bikers that gave is kudos as they passed by. 1 of them, an anonymous "appreciative biker from Medford" even slipped us a $100 donation!
Here's a video of the finished product (about 1 mi in 40 seconds).
