🏗️ Rotary Goes Back to Campus!

Klamath County Rotary Club members had a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of Oregon Tech’s new residence hall, led by Dean of Students Bonita Bontrager, along with Paul and Monique from Bogatay.

The new residence hall will provide space for 511 students, with beautiful views of Klamath Lake and the Oregon Tech campus. We were impressed by the thought and innovation built into the project:

🏠 Three separate buildings designed with earthquake resilience in mind
🪵 Cross-laminated timber (CLT) shipped from Austria and assembled almost like a giant puzzle — with impressive fire-resistant properties
❄️ Snow-melt sensors paired with geothermal heating for stairs and sidewalks
💨 Extensive air-barrier testing
🤝 More community gathering spaces incorporated in response to student input
🚿 Private shower rooms designed with students’ comfort in mind
🎨 Commissioned artwork throughout the hall inspired by scenery from the Klamath Basin

It was exciting to see how engineering, sustainability, safety, student feedback, and local art are coming together to create a new home for Oregon Tech students.

We gathered for a fireside chat with Rotarians who have been part of our club for three years or less—and it was something special.

There was great fellowship, honest conversation, and a shared appreciation for the best of our club, while also making room to ask what could be different, better, or new.

One thing is certain: these conversations are just getting started.

There’s something powerful about creating space for newer members to share their experiences, ideas, hopes, and questions—and to simply spend time getting to know one another.

Last night reminded us that the future of our club isn’t something we build alone. We build it together, through conversations like these.

Grateful for everyone who showed up, shared openly, listened generously, and helped make the evening what it was. ❤️

The conversation continues.

What an exciting week for our club! 🤝🔵

We were honored to welcome District Governor Bruce Allen and Assistant Governor Robie as they toured the district. Their visit gave us a great opportunity to pause, dream a little bigger, and envision our club’s potential — where we are today and, more importantly, where we can go together.

It was also a special moment to recognize Austin Lesueur with the Super Star Rotarian Award! ⭐️ Austin’s dedication to our club and his tremendous work helping make this year’s Rotary Auction a success are a wonderful example of what it means to step up and serve.

We’re grateful for the encouragement, the conversations, and the reminder that our best days are still ahead. Here’s to building on what we’ve started and continuing to make a difference in our community! 🌟

It’s time! 🎉 The Rotary Club of Klamath County is here at the 92nd Klamath County Livestock Auction with Klamath County Extension Oregon State University & Klamath County 4-H Oregon, ready to Unite for Good with one of our biggest crowds in recent years!

We can’t wait to see how the day unfolds as the bidding heats up, donations roll in, and Rotarians and friends come together for an incredible day of fellowship and service at the Klamath County Fair.
