Well....we had a very good time at the Wings and Eagles Airshow this last weekend in Klamath Falls. The Thunderbirds were as always awesome and there were tons of aircraft to see. Time to take a little break until the ringing in our ears clears up. Boy it was loud!

Be sure to visit the Tanker 61Wildfire Learning Center booth at the Wings and Eagles Airshow this weekend in Klamath Falls. We will be having a 50/50 Raffle to help fund our goal of providing better informational displays at the Center while giving you all a chance to win some cash.

A mere $ 2.00 per ticket or $ 5.00 for three. The more tickets purchased the bigger the pot! There will be a drawing at the close of the airshow each day Saturday and Sunday. You don't have to be present to win! See you there!

On this Memorial Day we honor those who lost their lives fighting battles against forces threatening our country both on the conventional battlefield and while protecting our communities from fire. Take a moment to remember and honor.

Just a little go back again. On July 24th the Tanker 61 Wildfire Learning Center and the Klamath Falls Airtanker Base gave what has become our annual tour with the STARBASE Kingsley folks.

DoD STARBASE Kingsley is hosted by the 173rd Fighter Wing in Klamath Falls and provides Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education to 5th grade students in the Klamath Basin.

Its always a great time showing them around the Tanker 61 Center the Airtanker Base and the P2V.

The 173rd Fighter Wing will welcome back the U.S. Air Force’s premier aerial demonstration team, the Thunderbirds, for the Wings and Eagles Airshow and Kingsley Field Open House, July 19-20, 2025.

“The Wings and Eagles Airshow will showcase the Thunderbirds, with one aircraft being flown by a previous Kingsley F-15 instructor pilot,” said Col. Lee Bouma, 173rd Fighter Wing commander. This will be the first time since 2008 that the Thunderbirds have been featured in Southern Oregon.

The public is invited to enjoy a wide variety of civilian and military performers, which will be announced at a later date, and admission is free.

“Please mark your calendar and come share the weekend with us, enjoying military aviation,” said Bouma. “This is one way we can give back to our amazing community that supports us so well.”

The Wings and Eagles Airshow will be held in conjunction with the Sentry Eagle air-to-air combat exercise, one of the Air National Guard’s largest air-to-air exercises. This exercise provides military pilots of the National Guard, Active Duty and Reserve components a forum in which to test their flying skills.
