Klamath Sustainable Communities Gardeners

Klamath Sustainable Communities Gardeners For anyone gardening in Klamath Sustainable Communities Garden. So we can keep in contact with each other, help, learn and grow together.

The Mills Community Garden was conceived and built during 2011 and 2012 by KSC members and valued friends. It is located in the Klamath Falls Mills Addition, at Richmond St. and Orchard Avenue, about two blocks west of the Mills School. Here Klamath residents grow nutritious vegetables, fruit, herbs and habitat. They do this for often with the joyful participation of their children. The owner of t

he lot at Orchard and Richmond has graciously allowed our use of their land; the labor, and many of the materials, for constructing the Garden were donated. We pay The City of Klamath Falls for the water used by the gardeners. Students from nearby Mills School have often been brought to the Garden by their teachers to learn about gardening. In addition to a the growing beds, the garden includes --
- a composting facility
- a shed for tools & supplies
- a picnic table and benches
- space for manure and other amendments for the beds, and
- a very nice greenhouse (see pix below), whose presence here we owe to Klamath Tribal Health & Family Services, specifically Master Gardener Perri McDaniel, and a grant from USDA. The greenhouse was assembled with the help of Dewey Moore and about a dozen youth from the Mills neighborhood. It has space for a few hundred potted plants and plant starts. While we were building the garden, one of the area nurseries donated and planted several fruit trees.

Would love to have a Community garden that included these!
