Good morning & happy Friday! We would like to remind you all that Fire Season is upon us and with that brings fire restrictions. Rocky Point Fire & EMS has responded to several burns already this fire season. Let's all work together to keep our Rocky Point community safe. If you are still working on yard cleanup, the dump site at Cold Springs is still open and accepting yard debris. Thank you all for your hard work at making Rocky Point a Firewise community.

π™‰π™Šπ™ 𝙁𝙄𝙍𝙀 π™Žπ™€π˜Όπ™Žπ™Šπ™‰ 𝙔𝙀𝙏: The Oregon Department of Forestry Central Oregon District is entering fire season today, but fire season has not yet been declared by the Southwest Oregon District here in Jackson and Josephine counties.

Each district is charged with declaring fire season on their protected lands due to the vastly different vegetation, elevation and weather conditions across the state. While temperatures have been heating up, conditions locally haven’t reached the thresholds we typically look for when declaring the start of the season. These factors include weather, vegetation moisture levels and fire potential.

Our firefighters are prepared to respond to any new fire starts, and when fire weather conditions become aligned and consistent, the ODF Southwest Oregon District will declare fire season in Jackson and Josephine counties. Until then, no fire danger levels or regulations are in place.

Rocky Point Fire & EMS responded to two fires this morning. The first was a hollowed out tree and the second was a fire at the quarry at Cold Springs. Forest Service was also on scene at the Quarry Fire. Chief Cartwright says, " Be careful disposing at the quarry and be sure your not bringing in hot embers and be mindful about yard burning. We look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow at the pancake breakfast! "
