πππ ππππ πππΌπππ πππ: The Oregon Department of Forestry Central Oregon District is entering fire season today, but fire season has not yet been declared by the Southwest Oregon District here in Jackson and Josephine counties.
Each district is charged with declaring fire season on their protected lands due to the vastly different vegetation, elevation and weather conditions across the state. While temperatures have been heating up, conditions locally havenβt reached the thresholds we typically look for when declaring the start of the season. These factors include weather, vegetation moisture levels and fire potential.
Our firefighters are prepared to respond to any new fire starts, and when fire weather conditions become aligned and consistent, the ODF Southwest Oregon District will declare fire season in Jackson and Josephine counties. Until then, no fire danger levels or regulations are in place.
