🤝 Working Together during Fire Season 🚒🔥💪

Chief Cartwright was part of the Klamath County Task Force sent in the early days of the Evans Creek Fire. Members of the department assisted with the Loveless Fire in Bonanza. Late last week our Wildland Firefighters returned home from The Rowe Complex where they were deployed for two weeks with the Klamath County Task Force. Yesterday morning Chief Cartwright returned home from 48 hours assisting with the Wrights Spring Fire. Yesterday afternoon we were dispatched to the Pitbull Fire here in Rocky Point off Westside Road and Forest Service Road 3455, and it was our turn to ask for help. We would like to thank our members and volunteers. We thank Klamath County Fire District 4, Oregon Department of Forestry, and Green Forest, LLC for responding to the fire. We would also like to thank Crater Lake Zipline for being the eyes in the sky and reporting the fire. The fire was contained to just under half an acre. We are also deeply thankful to the wind for not helping the fire. We ask that all members of the public keep a wary eye out for smoke and please follow the rules set forth during this extreme fire season. We also ask that you all please refrain from contacting members of the fire department when they are actively working to put out a fire. We promise that we will let you all know ASAP if you need to evacuate. Let us keep working hard to keep Rocky Point safe and secure!

🔥🔥Congested traffic on roads near the Wrights Spring Fire is dangerous for firefighters and dangerous for you!

Fire behavior can be unpredictable. Non-fire personnel on roads near the fire increases suppression complexity for firefighters, heavy equipment, and aerial attack. AND it can put you in danger, as well.

Firefighter safety remains a top priority. The public is asked to avoid areas around the to ensure firefighters can do their jobs with no obstructions or distractions.

Important to know: The fire level has increased to 'Extreme.' This means no chainsaws or woodcutting, and no outdoor fires, including warming fires. Please read the full regulations below.

Increased Fire Danger to Extreme Across Klamath and Lake Counties
LAKEVIEW, Ore – The South-Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership will increase Fire
Danger to Extreme (Red), enact Regulated Use and Public Use Restrictions (PURs) to Stage 2,
and implement Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) III Partial Shutdown effective 12:01
a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
Fire Danger will increase to Extreme across lands protected or managed by the Fremont-Winema
National Forest, Bureau of Land Management Lakeview District, U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service's Sheldon-Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge Complex and Klamath Basin
National Wildlife Refuge Complex, Crater Lake National Park, and all private, county, and stateprotected wildlands within the Klamath-Lake District, Oregon Department of Forestry.
The Fire Danger Rating System helps inform public land users of current fire conditions and the
level of caution needed while recreating or working outdoors. Under Extreme fire danger, fires
can start quickly, spread rapidly, and burn with high intensity. Everyone is urged to use extreme
caution to help prevent human-caused wildfires.
Industrial Fire Precaution Levels (IFPL) are based on current and expected fire conditions. It is
the responsibility of individuals conducting industrial operations on public lands to know the
current IFPL and comply with all applicable restrictions. Additional information on Industrial

Public Use Restrictions and Regulated Use Closures have been elevated to Stage 2, going into
effect to reduce the risk of accidental wildfire starts.
• NO Campfires on public land: Building, maintaining, attending, or using a warming fire.
• Internal Combustion Engines: Operating an internal combustion engine, including chainsaw
use is PROHIBITED. NO personal wood cutting allowed at this time.
As authorized under ORS 477.625(1)(a) and OAR 629-043-0026(5), the following requirements
apply to holders of a Permit to Operate Power-Driven Machinery on private, county, and stateprotected lands within the Klamath-Lake District.
Mechanized Harvesters with High-Speed Rotary Saws
1. Required Shutdown: Operation is prohibited between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. local time.
2. Operation Area Observer: After no more than 15 minutes of operation, the operator or a
designated individual must visually inspect all areas where the machine has operated that day.
The observer must be capable of operating fire protection equipment and have adequate
transportation and communication to summon assistance if needed.

Rocky Point Fire & EMS have 25 free smoke detectors available for our community to create a safer home. Smoke alarms save lives! To get your alarm please call the station, fill out a short form and one of your firefighters will come and install it for you. Help us Help our community.
