We have some beautiful pieces of local artwork and handmade quilts as part of our raffle at our upcoming annual luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Duck Woods. Raffle tickets start at $1.00. You can purchase 3 for $2, 8 for $5, and 20 for $10. All money raised goes to Food For Thought. Many thanks to our talented artists who generously donated to our raffle: Shelley Booth, Carol Jones, Suzanne Scott Constantine, Lynn Scott Constantine, Victoria Byers, Peggy Saporito, Gwen Taylor, Cindy Mattingly Blanketeers of Duck, Teacup Quilters of Manteo, Cil Deming.

We are pleased to announce that we are the recent recipient of a community benefit grant from The Outer Banks Hospital. Many thanks to the Outer Banks Hospital Community Benefit Grants Program and their Community Outreach & Development team for helping Food for Thought continue to fulfill our mission of feeding Dare County school children throughout the year.

We would like to thank the staff at the local Nags Head branch of SECU. This past winter, SECU employees held a fundraiser over an 8 week period where they would make soups and desserts to share for their lunches and gave a donation when they served themselves. We are so grateful to these members of our local community that graciously considered Food for Thought for their fundraiser.

Congratulations to our Golden Apple Winners, Drew Pearson, Director of Dare County Emergency Management, and Cil Deming, who is in charge of managing our inventory in the warehouse. Both were recognized yesterday at our annual meeting & luncheon at Duck Woods Country Club. We thank Drew and Cil as they are both integral to making the day-to-day operations of Food for Thought a success. We are very grateful for their kindness and dedication.

Many thanks to St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church and their outreach committee. Their recent Empty Bowls Event helped to raise money for 4 local charities supporting food insecurity issues in Dare & Currituck Counties. The four charities were FFT, Beach Food Pantry, Lower Currituck Food Pantry & Room In The Inn; each received a check from St. Andrew's for $1,250.

Thank you to Kellogg Supply Company for their recent donation to Food for Thought. Kellogg's recently held four events throughout the fall months which included a Charcuterie Class at The Cottage Shop in Nags Head, a Seashell Terrarium Class at the The Cottage Shop/Kellogg Supply in Duck, a Painting Class at Kellogg Supply in KDH, and a Painting Class at Kellogg Supply in Edenton. All ticket proceeds were donated and matched by Kellogg Supply Company for a total donation of $1,400! We are so thankful for this generous donation and wonderful community involvement.
