Rodeo City Equine Rescue

We are a tax exempt 501(C)3 organization operating under the laws of the state of Washington. RCER provides safe and healthy foster homes for equines.

We are an Rehab and re-home facility for equines. Our mission is to foster safe, sound, usable equines that still have quality of life. We shall rehabilitate and adopt animals into quality lifetime homes.

Mercy's foal update!

Meet Radar! Thanks to everyone that submitted names at our tack sale. We talked about them all and decided Radar was the best fit for him.

We spent a little time this weekend working with him separate from Mercy. Funny thing is he accidentally separated himself (gate wasn't actually locked but he thought it was) so we took advantage of the opportunity. Since he didn't have mom right there to cuddle up to he was a little challenging to catch, so we just spent time and positive reinforcement to get him to stand calmly next to us for scratches. He and Mercy did great!

Old leather tack for sale. Best for crafting at this point, except for maybe the stirrups. You can buy these items separately (prices listed below) or buy the lot for $100.
Stirrups = $5 a pair
Saddle = $50
Vintage driving bridles = $8 ea
Box of misc leather (old bridles, reins, etc) = $25 per box
All proceeds go to the rescue.

We are having a fun time in downtown Ellensburg this morning supporting Josie's Misfit Ranch at their Daschunds On Parade event. This is an amazing event that brings our Kittitas Valley animal rescues together for a great cause.

Our amazing volunteers are around to answer questions and chat about or rescue horses. Come see us!

Ernie found his forever family 🐴

After a year of rehabilitation, training, and multiple applications - Ernie finally found the perfect home.

We always knew Ernie would need a special person. His big, goofy personality coupled with his required medical maintenance meant he couldn't just go to anyone. He really hit the jackpot with his new family. They have years of horse experience, and one of them is a veterinarian. Needless to say, they were undaunted by his required joint maintenance. They like to spend their free time out on the trail and camping with their three other horses. In fact, Ernie already went on his first trail ride this weekend!

A huge thank you to Central Washington Equine Hospital, Amelia Garrett Storey (farrier) and his amazing foster mom Jamie Kenfield who all worked to get Ernie back on his feet. It took a year of hard work, farrier appointments, and many vet appointments to get this guy back on track. We wish him all the best in his new adventures.

Look who's feeling better 👀🐴

We are thrilled with Hedwin's progress. Not only is she looking and feeling much better, but her personality is coming through. From being almost uncatchable, to in your pocket and very people oriented.

Because of the generosity of our community and supporters, Hedwin was able to be seen by our friends at Central Washington Equine Hospital last week. Her teeth were quite the mess, she's missing several teeth and needed a lot of work done in her mouth. The vet will need to float her teeth again in a couple months. Now that she's able to eat more comfortably, we are starting to see improvement with her weight.

Hedwin's rescue and rehabilitation is only made possible by your donations. We are grateful to be able to help get this sweet girl back on her feet. We look forward to sharing more progress photos soon!

Emergency Intake: Mercy

Last week, we received an emergency call from the Yakima Sheriff's Office regarding a critical situation. Our volunteers promptly responded, rescuing a 15 year old Andalusian mare from a deplorable living environment, who we've named Mercy.

A prior equine seizure had occurred on the property the week before, but Mercy remained hidden due to the excessive debris and garbage. Regrettably, she had no access to food or water and is approximately eight months pregnant.

Mercy was evaluated by Central Washington Equine Hospital. Dr. Lopez confirmed the foal is healthy, and Mercy is expected to foal within two months. She has since undergone necessary medical care, including dental floating and hoof trimming, and is now receiving proper nutrition for her pregnancy.

These two pictures are taken approximately 1 week apart, you can see she's already looking and feeling much better at her foster home. We can't wait to get Mercy healthy again and could not do this without your support.

We are in need of donations for Mercy as she and her baby receive the medical care and nutrition they need. Donations can be made through our website, or via the donation option on this post. Every penny we receive goes directly to the cost of medical and food expenses.
