HAVIN, Inc

HAVIN, Inc HAVIN provides services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. All services are free and confidential. HAVIN Inc.

was founded in 1979 by a grass roots organization of women. In its earliest state this group of women worked toward their goal of providing services to battered women and survivors of sexual assault by establishing a volunteer-staffed hotline for survivors of abuse. In early 1983, funding from PCADV was secured and HAVIN established its first 24-hour hotline and began a "Safe Home" program for bat

tered women. In mid 1983, PCAR recognized the work being done with survivors of sexual assault in Armstrong County and funded HAVIN to continue their services.

An unsettling number of older Americans are in abusive relationships that either begin in or persist into later life.

No one deserves abuse, and no matter what your situation, there are ways to find help. It is never too late to report the violence and talk to someone about it.

One coalition is powerful. Two coalitions are harder to ignore.

For months, survivors, advocates, and communities across Pennsylvania have been raising their voices about the urgent need to strengthen funding for sexual assault and domestic violence services.

Now, PCAR and the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence are coming together at the State Capitol with one shared message: survivors cannot wait.

Join us on June 16, from 2:00 - 3:00 PM, as we stand united in support of the programs that help survivors find safety, healing, and hope.

Whether you're a survivor, advocate, ally, or community member, your voice matters. Show up, speak out, and let them hear us.

When we speak together, our voices carry further.

You are right there in the community, ready to offer support. You are the help that individuals in a domestic violence or mental health crisis need most.

PurpleOne is a nationally recognized program that will soon be implemented in Armstrong County. Once you are trained in Purple One, you will have the knowledge and skills needed to support someone in crisis for a brief period of time, until they receive the appropriate help.

With summer break on the horizon, many of us are looking forward to free time to relax and have fun. But for kids or teens who have witnessed (or experienced) violence at home, being out of school can bring a new set of safety concerns and challenges.

Teens and young adults might also be navigating the brave new world of dating while school's out, and healthy relationship education can help make this time fun and exciting, rather than unhealthy or unsafe.

If you're a trusted adult for these or any young people in your life, check out "Summer Safety Planning with Children, Teens, and Young Adults" from NNEDV and Esperanza United: https://buff.ly/lX5LFhe

For Maternal Health Month, we’re holding space for all the ways motherhood can look and feel.

For survivors of abuse, being a mother can mean navigating fear, uncertainty, and difficult decisions while still showing up with love, protection, and care every single day.

To the mothers who are rebuilding, healing, and creating safer futures for themselves and their children: we see you. You are not alone.

If you or someone you know needs support, free and confidential help is available 24/7. 💜
