Thankful. As we prepare to take over the location for Smail's Custom Drum Shop in Kittanning, we’re feeling thankful—for everything Mike Smail has done to support Fostering Music over the years.

We recently found this interview we did with him back in 2024, and it’s clear Mike understood our mission from the beginning.

Our favorite quote from Mike: “I like the fact that giving the gift of music to a child lasts a lifetime. It’s not something that wears out.

“I think it suits foster kids even better because of their uncertain circumstances. It will always go with them, no matter where they go, and it is something permanent for them to hold on to when so much else is out of their control.”

We wish Mike the best as he steps down from running the show to offering a few lessons here and there.

DINING IN THE DARK 2026 🎃🧟‍♀️🍽️

On Halloween, we'll turn down the lights and turn up the creepy music. 5-courses of scrumptious food and a cocktail list "to die for" will make for a shriekingly good time.

Full cocktail, b**r, and w**e list along with non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

Adults only, please. $90/person includes your meal, sales tax, and gratuity on your meal. The historic spooky mansion vibes are included, free of charge. 😉
