The Scripture says, “Take every thought captive that goes against what God says.” Get a picture of that. A negative thought comes: fear, worry, doubt. You can’t be passive or complacent. You have to arrest that thought. It’s an intruder. Taking it captive indicates force, being on the offensive. It could have said, just don’t think it; don’t pay it attention. But God was showing us how important it is that we be proactive. If we’re going to have a sound mind, it’s not going to happen automatically. We’re going to have to start locking up some things. The apostle Paul said, “Give no place to the enemy.” Are there some intruders in your mind that you’re allowing to stay? Are you giving place to negative, discouraging thoughts?

Nehemiah prayed, “God grant me success as I go to the king and ask for a favor. Put it in his heart to help me.” Nehemiah prayed a bold prayer, “God, I’m going to go the king. I’m going to ask him to be good to me, but I need your favor. Put it in his heart to help me.” That’s a great prayer. “God, put it in people’s hearts to help us. God, cause me to stand out, cause people to want to be good to me.” You might be thinking, "But Joel, that’s kind of selfish." No. If you’re going to reach your destiny, if you’re going to accomplish your God-given dreams, go places no one in your family has gone, you have to be bold. You can’t be weak and intimidated, “This is too much.” You need to ask big, pray big, believe big. You’re going to need other people to open doors, other people to fund your dream, other people to use their influence to push you forward. Have you ever prayed, “God, put it in people’s heart to help me. Put it in people’s hearts to show me favor.”

Goliath was twice David’s size. He was the champion of the Philistine army, their most feared soldier. David was young and small, with no military training, no armor. How could he have the courage to face Goliath? What gave him the passion, the fire to even think he had a chance? When you come into these sovereign moments, it’s not just you; it’s the Most High God backing you up. It’s the One who’s with you. There will be faith that you’ve never had, courage, boldness, favor that will catapult you ahead.

I know it will be bittersweet for some because your Mom is no longer here. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around you!
However, please remember that you are a Mom. You lead, you guide, you teach, more importantly, you LOVE!

God doesn’t always follow a normal timeline. He has some blessings that are going to put you a generation ahead. Everything is going in order, in line, routine, and then out of nowhere, a generational blessing. The Scripture says, “You will live in houses that you didn’t build, eat from vineyards that you didn’t plant.” Those are generational blessings. To reach the fullness of your destiny, to see all God has planned for you, it’s not going to happen only at a normal pace. There are going to be some fast-forward moments: favor that catapults you ahead, times that you find yourself further. You can’t explain it. You didn’t earn it. It wasn’t on your schedule. It was the hand of God, accelerating your destiny, thrusting you decades ahead.

My friend, please know that God is ordering your steps. Sometimes we don’t understand his plan & it may seem uncomfortable at times. But like Joseph, all the disappointments, delays, betrayals were all a part of God’s plan for his success. He didn’t fight it, he embraced it. He kept a good attitude, he did his best despite what came against him. And I am here to tell you, God is going to get you to your destiny. No matter what you're going through or what people think or say...So keep it light and don't fight, God has got you!

When was the last time someone did you wrong? Did you hold on to the hurt, try to pay them back? When someone betrays your trust, when they leave you out, when they say things that aren't true about you, the offense leaves a wound. One big test we must pass is to forgive people as Jesus has forgiven us and, as much as possible, to be a "peacemaker" rather than revengeful (Matthew 5:9). That means to be good to those who have not been good to us. Jesus says, "Love your enemies, do good to them...Then your reward will be great" (Luke 6:35). That's the test. That's God seeing if you're ready to be promoted. When God can trust you to handle favor, influence, and power without using it to be vindictive, He can take you to new levels.
