🔥 Central Warren County FPD Training 🔥

Today, District Chief Justin Taylor, Captain Payton Crain, Firefighter Ashton Toal, and Firefighter Alex Burgland represented Central Warren County Fire Protection District at the WIFA Fall Fire School in Galesburg.
Our members completed specialized training in Grain Bin Awareness and Anhydrous Ammonia Emergencies—two important areas of training for firefighters serving our agricultural community.
The training provided valuable knowledge to better understand these hazards, operate safely, and respond effectively when called upon.
We appreciate these four members for giving their time today to continue improving their knowledge and skills. Training today makes us safer tomorrow.

🔥 Acquired Structure Burn Training 🔥
A huge thank you to IFSI for providing another outstanding live-fire training opportunity and to Reynolds Fire Protection District for hosting the acquired structure burn.
District Chief Taylor originally thought he was going to have to miss out due to his kid’s baseball schedule. Fortunately, Mother Nature had other plans, and the games were canceled due to rain — allowing him to attend the training after all! 🌧️⚾➡️🔥
Throughout the day, firefighters were able to gain valuable live-fire experience through several different scenarios and assignments, including:
🔥 Fire Attack
🚨 RIT
📋 Command
🦺 Safety
🔥 Ignition Team
Training in an acquired structure provides an experience that simply can’t be duplicated in a classroom. The realistic conditions, changing fire behavior, communication, decision-making, and teamwork all provide valuable lessons that help prepare firefighters for the real thing.
Thank you again to IFSI, Reynolds Fire Protection District, the instructors, safety personnel, ignition teams, and everyone who helped make this training possible. We appreciate the opportunity to train, learn, and continue building the skills needed to better serve our communities.

🚨 Parents, take a closer look at those “doops”! 😳

Our friends and partners at the .S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are warning about safety concerns involving fake and counterfeit squishy toys.

Some knockoff toys may not meet important safety standards and could pose risks to children. Before buying or letting your child play with a squishy toy, make sure it comes from a reputable seller and check for safety information and recalls.

🧸 A cute toy isn’t worth a safety risk. When in doubt, check it out!

Day 4 is in the books, and cadet/explorer school has officially come to an end!

Today, Parker Scott and Bentlee Cook spent the entire day in live fire burns, putting everything they learned throughout the week to the test. From search and rescue to hose work, ladders, ropes, forcible entry, and fire attack, they wrapped up the week by applying those skills in realistic fire scenarios.

The weather finally cooperated today, making for a great final day of training. The boys are cleaning up, packing their gear, and getting ready to hit the road back home.

We’re proud of the hard work, determination, and professionalism Parker and Bentlee showed all week. They represented Central Warren Fire Protection District extremely well, and we can’t wait to see them continue building on everything they learned.

Cadet & Explorer School – Day 3 🔥

Another action-packed day for Parker Scott and Bentlee Cook at Cadet & Explorer School!

The morning kicked off with ropes, where both Parker and Bentlee rappelled down a tower approximately three stories high before taking on an inverted free descent from about one story up. Captain Payton Crain even joined in on the fun during the ropes evolutions!

From there, it was time to put their skills to work with hose advancements and live fire attack before breaking for lunch. The afternoon was spent back in the burn building, focusing on search and rescue and additional live fire attack scenarios.

These two continue to represent Central Warren Fire Protection District with hard work, determination, and a willingness to learn. We’re proud of everything they’re accomplishing and can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings! 🚒💪

Day 2 of Fire Explorer & Cadet School is in the books!

Parker Scott and Bentlee Cook had another full day of hands-on training. This morning started with forcible entry and ground ladders before moving into hose advancement and fire behavior using the live fire cans. They wrapped up the afternoon with auto extrication and finished the day under the lights with an LP gas live burn.

As if the day wasn’t exciting enough, they also had the opportunity to meet “Herrmann” (David Eigenberg) and “Tony” (Anthony Ferraris) from Chicago Fire!

The boys have been putting in the work, soaking up knowledge, and representing Central Warren Fire Protection District well. They’re excited and ready for tomorrow’s full day of live fire training.

Keep up the great work, Parker and Bentlee! We’re proud of your dedication and can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. 🚒🔥
