Ask what YOU can do for Square Dancing! If you're here, you already know what square dancing can do for you. You love it, but it doesn't happen by itself. Whether it's your local club, state festival or a National Square Dance Convention® a LOT of people are working far in advance of your event. Get involved! Volunteer! The National Square Dance Convention® is the largest all volunteer convention there is. BE PART OF IT. Work on state and national conventions starts YEARS in advance, not weeks. Who wants some bling? We've had a lot of requests for shirts and buttons. THEY ARE IN! We'll be at the Northwest District Square and Round Dance Clubs dance tonight in Riverside with bling and of course registrations. We also have a team at the Illinois State Festival today as well with bling. AND, we've got more designed and on order. We'll give you some peeks here and keep you informed on where you can find us.

SHOW ME THE BLING! The bling is in and we'll be at the NW District Dance in Riverside, MO tonight if you want shirts, buttons and maybe prairie dogs. We also have a team at the Illinois state festival this weekend. We'll be posting pics of some of our bling you won't want to miss.

Okay, we don't have mountains. We don't have beaches. But we do have REAL BBQ and no visit to Kansas City "counts" until you've had some. There is nowhere in town that BBQ isn't close by. KayCee is NOT making BBQ. She's "grilling". You can get that anywhere. Opie is the pitmaster. The best meat, slow smoked for 10+ hours until it's perfect. There's nothing like it and you'll need to come to KC to experience it. Oh yea, and the dancing. Can't forget the dancing. Great food. Great fun. Great friends. REGISTER NOW!

Missouri is known as the "Show-Me State" so periodically we'll post tidbits about the area we call The Heartland. So, here we go . . . Did you know that Kansas City played a huge role in America's westward expansion. Just east of Kansas City (and still standing) is Fort Osage, established by the Lewis & Clark expedition in 1808. When westward expansion was at its height, nearly all westward settlers went through Independence, Mo (on the east side of the metro) or "Westport Landing" as Kansas City was called then. They arrived to the Landing by riverboat or Independence by land, stocked up on supplies and headed west on Oregon, California or Santa Fe Trails. Many of them going through modern day Overland Park, KS, likely within a mile or so of the site of the 78th NSDC at the Overland Park Convention Center. There are still wagon ruts visible in a park in South Kansas City heading towards Overland Park. Kansas City went on to build quite the reputation as a rowdy town (to put it mildly) before becoming the metro area it is today. If you can't tell, we love Kansas City and its history. We want you to be as curious as we are. Questions? Ask. We can't dance every day. We'd like to, but even prairie dogs have responsibilities.

We’re out in the prairie this weekend at the HASSDA festival in Emporia, KS, just over an hour from the Overland Park Convention Center. In the Heartland, lots of great dancing and fellowship.
