Missouri Rural Enterprise and Innovation Center MREIC mission: help small businesses grow and succeed. MREIC is a non-profit funded by a combination of federal, state and local organizations.

We provide small business with free, easy access to the help you need - when you need it.We are dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and business owners develop the plans and skills needed to thrive. We receive federal funds through the SBA (Small Business Association), state funds through MTC and DED (Missouri Technology Corporation and Department of Economic Development) and local funds from the City of Kirksville and Truman State University to provide business counseling and entrepreneurship support in Northeastern Missouri.

The application window is still open for physical and economic injury disaster SBA loans from the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred in August (Declaration MO-20031, declared August 3, 2026).

While the physical disaster loan deadline has passed, properties and businesses in counties like Knox, Macon, and Putnam are currently in a grace period, and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) are being accepted through May 3, 2027. Check your county's exact deadlines and details at SBA Disaster Loan Assistance and reach out if you need guidance navigating these recovery funds!
