On Sunday at approximately 2:00 PM, Adair County Fire, Kirksville Fire Department, and La Plata Community Fire Protection District responded to a garage fire. Upon their arrival, Kirksville Fire initiated an interior attack and discovered the fire had extended into the attic. Adair County personnel commenced roof ventilation, while La Plata established a water supply. The coordinated efforts of these three departments, a testament to their joint training, resulted in a rapid containment of the incident. The prompt knockdown and closure of doors were instrumental in preserving clothing and other valuable possessions. Due to the prevailing high temperatures and humidity, additional personnel were requested from the Baring Volunteer Fire Department,Hurdland Fire Department and Atlanta Fire Department. The Adair County Ambulance District was present on-site, providing care and hydration to approximately 20 firefighters. Operations concluded after approximately three hours.
