In In late July, Adair County Fire received a new 2,000-gallon pumper/tanker, manufactured by Toyne Fire Apparatus. Over the past few months, crews have been undergoing training on various operational scenarios. The apparatus was placed into service in August. This new truck significantly enhances the fleet's capabilities, enabling a single operator to deploy a pumper with a 2,000-gallon capacity, a task previously requiring two personnel and two separate pieces of equipment. The acquisition of this vehicle was financed through membership dues and the sale of older equipment. Thank you to the Adair County citizens as well as the board. For supporting the department and continuing to help it grow.

Our personnel were dispatched at approximately 12:20 today to a tractor and grain cart fire west of Industrial Road on Highway 6. Units arrived on the scene approximately 7 minutes later, at which point the tractor was fully engulfed in flames, along with grass on both sides of the highway. The Kirksville Fire Department and La Plata Community Fire Protection District were called in to assist. The Kirksville Fire Department focused their efforts on extinguishing the tractor fire, while the La Plata Fire and Adair County Fire Departments concentrated on containing the fire along the highway and preventing it from spreading to the city's water treatment plant. The successful collaboration between these departments was a result of their regular joint training exercises and mutual aid agreements. We would like to express our gratitude to the Kirksville Police Department, Adair County Ambulance District, Adair County Missouri Sheriff's Office and Detention Center, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri Department of Transportation, Lakeside Towing & Recovery for their assistance in scene control and cleanup, and to the Adair County 911 Dispatchers for their coordination efforts. The affected roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours.

Quick action from a neighbor who noticed smoke coming from a residence saved this residential building. The neighbor, who called 911, and provided emergency dispatchers quick and detailed information. Firefighters from Adair County Fire, Kirksville MO as well as Kirksville Fire Department, La Plata Community Fire Protection District, and Adair County Ambulance District were toned out. The first unit was on scene within 11 minutes of being toned. When units arrived, both apartments had light smoke inside. It was discovered on the initial 360° inspection of the structure, lighting struck the antenna and followed both the cable and phone lines into the house in two separate locations. A total of 3 engines, 3 tankers, and an ambulance responded.

Great work from the caller, the 911 dispatchers, and the responders.

Some have noticed and asked whats going on with Station 2 "Reesman station"? Over the past week the volunteers on the department have been spending their days and evenings removing all the molded, mouse infested drywall and insulation to help improve the station. It had a bathroom and other walls that didn't allow the trucks being built and used today that are bigger and wider to fit very well. So it's time to do little remodeling. Thank you to the ones that have had time to help. Along with this still running a structure fire and two natural cover fires. Over that past 2 days. It's not easy these days to get volunteers to do this kind of work. Adair County Fire is made up of Men and Woman of Kirksville and Adair County residents who volunteer there time. So please if you know one of these people or happen to see tjem at a station stop say hi and thank them. Thank you Andy's Lawn & Landscape for the lift to help with removal of ceiling today it was a huge help.
