šŸŒŽ Healthy communities. Healthy planet.

We often talk about how va**ng affects our health, but there’s another impact we can’t ignore: the waste left behind.

Disposable v**es contain plastic, electronics, and lithium-ion batteries, and millions are thrown away each year. That waste can end up in landfills, soil, and waterways.

Protecting our community means looking at the whole picture. Talk with the young people in your life about the risks of va**ng, support v**e-free communities, and make sure unwanted v**e products are disposed of safely and properly.

Our health matters. Our environment matters. And small actions can make a difference. 🌱

šŸ’œ August is Overdose Awareness Month šŸ’œ

When we talk about naloxone, it’s important to remember: naloxone is for everyone. You don’t have to be actively using opioids to encounter a situation where naloxone could save a life.

Consider these scenarios:
• A child finds and takes pills that aren’t prescribed to them.
• A student buys a pill online to help them study, without knowing what’s actually in it.
• An older adult accidentally takes an extra dose of a prescribed pain medication.
• Someone develops an opioid use disorder after being prescribed pain medication following surgery.

These situations can happen in any community, to any family. Keeping naloxone on hand is one simple way to be prepared for an opioid overdose. You don’t carry naloxone because you expect an overdose. You carry it because you’re prepared to help if one happens.

Naloxone is available FREE at the Adair County Health Department.

Hey parents! Check out this awesome event hosted by CAPNEMO's Family Connection Center . What a great resource!

We are hosting at the Family Connection Center our first monthly self care group called Strong Minds, Strong Families. We will be having it this month on Monday August 24th from 5:30-7pm. This new group is designed for parents who could use a little time for themselves! Come connect with other parents, chat about the importance of self-care, and enjoy a fun self-care activity together. It’s a great opportunity to relax, recharge, connect, and take some time for YOU—because taking care of yourself is an important part of taking care of your family.

✨ Free childcare will be available on-site! ✨

If you have any interest in joining or have questions, please feel free to contact our center at (660)280-3377 or email us at [email protected]. We hope to see you there!

Something BIG is coming… šŸ‘€šŸŽ¬

We’re excited to announce the upcoming debut of our brand-new ā€œSober Is the Vibeā€ commercial!

This campaign highlights the power of living substance-free, making healthy choices, and showing that confidence, connection, and fun don’t require alcohol, v**es or drugs.

A huge thank you to the incredible local youth who helped bring this project to life. We can’t wait to share the final video with our community.

Stay tuned… dropping soon right here on Facebook!
