Our Employment Services Director, Sabrina Selvey, recently spoke with Thousand Hills Rotary Club about the meaningful employment opportunities available in Adair County! Thank you to the Rotary Club for inviting us to share more about our Employment Services and providing an opportunity to connect with local employers and community partners! 💙

The Center for Human Services (CHS), which is based in Sedalia, Missouri and includes Chariton Valley Association (CVA), a Kirksville area partner, provides employment services to individuals, among its many other services. Through their Supported Employment Services, CHS assists those with disabilities 16 years of age and up to find fulfilling employment. They provide the necessary resources before, during, and after employment begins. The team's goal is to match individual skill sets and passions with employment opportunities. Sabrina Selvey, Director of Employment Services, spoke recently to members of the Kirksville-Thousand Hills Rotary Club about those services. Selvey explained that a goal of the employment services is to help individuals recognize that they are capable of getting and keeping a job, and to help them toward independence. The Kirksville-Thousand Hills Rotary Club meets on Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m. at the Aquatic Center, 801 E. Mill Street. Club members complete an in-meeting service project once each month, and have the opportunity to learn about community, Rotary, and international projects and issues at their weekly meetings. Anyone who would like to learn more about the club or Rotary International is welcome to attend.

Last month, our team had the opportunity to attend the Kirksville Healthcare Expo! 🌟

During the event, team members were able to share about the various services, programs, and resources our organization offers for individuals and families in the community. It provided a valuable way to connect with attendees and local providers to help them learn more about the meaningful supports available to them.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with these organizations and community members to create access to resources and supports throughout Adair county! 💙

Through CHS/CVA Employment Services, those we serve are able to receive personalized support when exploring career opportunities, building their resumes, and navigating benefits while maintaining meaningful employment. Last week, our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) enjoyed a series of spirit day activities and a family-friendly party to celebrate DSP Week 2026! 🎉 🙌

From crazy hat days and prize giveaways to employee car washes and sporting apparel, our team members had a great time celebrating together and creating fun memories. We are grateful to have such a dedicated team of DSPs who support and provide essential care to those we serve! 💙
