Ok…so let’s get something straight! This education system is screwing us over dollar by dollar!
Yesterday, Monday, was the first day back from Christmas break (and an added one week snow days) and my daughter stayed home sick from her monthly visitor!
Her lunch balance at the end of the year when she came home was $9.40!
Last night (as usual with every night since she has accrued an overdue amount) we received an automated call from the school.
The new balance (without going to school a single day due to Christmas break and snow days and her sick) was now $10.65!
A small leap, but an impossible one.
We were told in the first weeks of school when her account was adding up day by day, that it was an accounting error. It was fixed and we went about our lives!
Then three weeks before Christmas break it started again!
So we called again! And this time we were told it is because she is getting an extra milk, or she is getting an extra “something” at lunch.
Our daughter assured us that she is merely picking up the tray they give out, nothing more!
Kids lie! We know! But I believe her in this situation as why would she lie. It’s $10! Not a fight or flight reasoning here.
How does an account that has to be charged by the student go up $1.25 without the student attending the lunch period a single time between the two amounts!
Doesn’t add up! But the cafeteria worker we spoke with said the manager or whoever is in charge of that was not there today! So an update will be added to this comment section when we find out the answer!
In the meantime, has anyone else experienced this? Has it led to punishments for you children that were possibly telling you the truth? Punishments such as them being given an even less than nutritional lunch?
