🌿 An evening of nature and storytelling with David B. Williams!

Join us on March 26th for our March Program Night featuring acclaimed writer and naturalist David B. Williams. Known for bringing geology, history, and ecology to life, David will help us see Seattle in a whole new way, uncovering the wild stories hidden in our streets, shorelines, and neighborhoods.

David will be joined by Eastside Audubon board members Claire Waltman and Lori Danielson for a lively conversation exploring what it means to notice, value, and protect the wildness woven through Seattle and Bellevue’s urban fabricβ€”and how our everyday choices shape the places we call home.

πŸ“Έ Nancy Tom Wins Eastside Audubon Photo of the Month Award for December 🌟

The winning photo of Black-necked Stilts captures a mated pair foraging together at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

β€œThis past March I went to Florida on my second bird photography trip,” Nancy says. β€œThese Black-necked Stilts are a mated pair. They foraged together, and I later witnessed their special moment. It is still shocking how fast birds mate.”

The Photo of the Month award was instituted to recognize the work of the Eastside Audubon Photo Group Members. The group members meet monthly to show their latest photos and videos as well as share their knowledge of photography and wildlife.

🌿 Bellevue Botanical Gardens
🌲 Cougar & Squak Mountains (Issaquah)

πŸ¦†πŸŒΏ Marymoor Park Bird Loop: Restored, renewed, and ready for the Future! πŸŒΏπŸ¦†

Did you know Eastside Audubon helps maintain the Bird Loop at Marymoor Park? This special loop trail winds through wetlands and shrubs in Marymoor Park, creating prime habitat for ducks, songbirds, raptors, and more, while allowing birders and walkers an up-close view of nature in action.

Thanks to restoration work in 2025, the Bird Loop is healthier than ever: invasive plants removed, native vegetation coming back strong, and habitat improvements that support birds year-round. πŸ’ͺ🌱

✨ Looking ahead to 2026, the goals are even bigger:
Continue restoring native plants
Improve habitat diversity for birds and wildlife
Strengthen partnerships and volunteer stewardship
Keep the Bird Loop welcoming for both birds and people

Every visit, every volunteer hour, and every bit of support helps keep this iconic bird loop thriving. Join us on the first Saturday of every month to participate in the restoration work! πŸ€πŸ’š
